After my old lights were destroyed by some flying gravel, I installed another set I had. I'm liking these way better than the others. I have some pics in my gallery if you'd like to see them.

Not bad.. very neat & tucked away, keeps the clean streamlined look of the speedy. Think I'd try to find a way to make a set of clear perspex covers for them to protect from future gravel etc.

By the way, interesting sissybar, what is it?

Matt

Thanks. I found the "Backrest" (no sissys here) at a motorcycle swap meet. It came off of an undetermined year HD. I spent a bit of time bending/pounding it into shape to fit the Speedy and painted it. Worked out well and is a LOT better IMO than the Triumph backrest. It's just a tad larger than the one made for our bikes.

That's exactly how I mounted the running lights on my bike. Where did you mount the switch?

Very neat. I have a light buar but I was thinking of something similar for the forks. Kind of like fog lights.

Angelis, No switch. I wired 'em up to be on when the bike is on (high and low beam). I put them on for visibility sakes and they are definitely visible.

I can't remember who made them, they've been sitting around the garage sans box for about 4 months. I do know I paid $19.99 on sale at O'Reilly auto parts. I seem to remember thay were a regularly stocked item at the time, normal price around $30.

Ok so basically I could go find them at any auto parts or Wally world or something. What's the wattage on the bulbs? Thanks!

i picked them up at O'Reily's yesterday, last set they had. 24.99. i think they're called super white something or other. they seem very sturdy.

looks like i'll have to pick up some bolts to install.

i want the switch installed, too. maybe i can find a place under the seat or tank?

Cat, find yourself a nice waterproof switch and mount it in the dash! Great place. We don't have O'Rieleys around here, so I'll have to check out autozone or something.

Cat check out my photo's and you will see where I mounted the switch. I bought my switch from Radio Shack. I bought my lights from JC Whitney.

Grzegorz, connect the positive wire to the battery. The ground wires from the lights will have to be spliced together then grounded to the frame, and the two extra wires from the lights will have to be spliced together and connected to the load blade on the switch. Make sure you buy a 30 amp the blade switch that is waterproof or water resistant.

I am probably going to finally do something like this. Any pictures of the wires in place that you can share? It sounds easy enough, but I would love the visual reference.

Very cool stuff.
