With the Triumph sissy bar and rack, how difficult is it to remove the rack? It is just a case or some hardware removal?

Think the wife's gonna spring for one for the bike, for my birthday. I'll still shop ebay or elsewhere for the best price.

4 small bolts attach the luggage rack to the sissy bar, another 4 bolts attach the Sissy Bar to the bike itself.

Actually, those 4 small bolts hold the luggage rack and the sissy bar to the side plates that bolt to the fender.... It isn't difficult to remove the rack.

There are also 4 small ones that attach the rack to the sissy bar, I took it from his question that he wanted to know if the rack could be removed without the taking off the sissy bar.

Make sure you disconnect the battery and have the work done by a Triumph trained technician !!

Thanks for the replies, guys.

ArGee and Deon, that was what I was asking, if rack could be removed when not needed, leaving sissy bar in place. I couldn't quite tell from any photos I had found. I know the sissy bars are sold with and without rack, but didn't know if they were permanently affixed.

Benelli, only need the rack a few times a year, for 2, 3, or longer day trips. Most of the time we don't need it, and I don't like the look of it hanging out there, empty. With luggage or gear secured to it, it doesn't bother me.

And Nobby, I thought that advice was like Bible

Thanks again.

I did that for a while. It's not real convenient to pop the rack on and off the sissy bar. Once or twice a year is OK, beyond that you risk scratching the fender. I finally just removed mine and it's in my attic storage.

Yep, taking the rack off while leaving this sissy bar there's easy. Doing it the other way round requires some spacers though.

I want to know the other way around. Can you take the sissybar off and leave just the rack? I ride solo and sometimes I could use more storage space. I have a rack on the fender but it would be nice to be able to get more square footage to strap some extra crap on. Of course for that long trip, I'd put the sissybar on to stabalize packing stuff higher; sleeping bags , tent, etc. Maby I need a side car with a flat bed and side rails.
