Hi everyone. New member here, been reading a lot over the last few days though. I am a completely new rider. Just took the safety course and im now out bike shopping.

I have a deep attraction to the bonneville america. I love the two tones on the dark blue and white bike, however Im really looking for a black bike with white or silver surrounding the logo.
Do they make a year of the America with that type of color scheme? Thanks!

I believe the black and white paint only is available on the Bonneville. I wished that paint would have been available on our model when I purchased it. If I ever repaint I may do the black and white.

Dang...you guys are good. Steve has all the info to make the right choice. Except for this one little known, rarely spoken of, gem of wisdom. The 02 Cardinal Red TBA's are the fastest.

Black and silver was available through 2003. After that, it was black and black.

I keep telling y'all, the custom painted ones are fastest. No tape lines in the clear. Smooooooth. Less resistance.

That's why this board gets so much credit for selling so many bikes!

I was right where you are 5 1/2 years ago, drooling over a VTX and never had ridden a bike before, other than just a couple of times as a kid.

Once I found the SPEEDMASTER and this forum, this forum, and the activity on it, sold me on the bike, and on TRIUMPH.

I thought I needed a water cooled engine and shaft drive, and a lot of displacement. WRONG!

It's been a great 5 years since I bought the bike, and my only regret is I didn't ever get the itch earlier in life.

I bought the Black Speedy because I didn't think I cared for the Tornado Red, Sky Blue, or Racing Yellow offerings at the time. It wasn't because I liked Black. Now, after seeing a few vintage Triumphs at our annual New Ulm Rally here out of Houston, I realize that some of these colors are coming back around from years gone by, and that's cool.

There was a Root Beer colored Bonneville 750 at the rally this year......BEAUTIFUL.....

If you can or intend to do any wrenching on your new bike, the carbureted models are easy to work on, and it's fun to do your own maintenance and mods, and learn about things like carburetion as you go. The fuel injected bikes may limit some of the opportunities for that, but I'm sure they would both be reliable mounts.

You won't be sorry.......

Still fairly new to BA.com so still picking up on what happens here but I've already 'witnessed' a bunch of Triumph sales being made. This forum deserves a lot of credit from Triumph I would have to say.

Yep - 2002 Cardinal Red - course mine is no longer the red and silver - but red and ghost flames! fenders are still stock, haven't had them flamed yet!

Yeah, you would think that, wouldn't ya Paul?! But yet as of late there's been no evidence submitted that those ghost flames on Becky's BA make her bike faster or even AS fast as my stock Cardinal Red machine is over White Spar Pass or Mingus Mountain!

(hmmmm...go figure, huh Ms.Counsellor?????)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

C'mon all you yellow and black speedmaster owners - rise up! Tell these people that ours stand out in a crowd.

When you are looking that good who needs to be the fastest.
