I might steal the peg hanger idea, I have been wanting to go to the newer style black ones for a while. I was just talking to Tom about it today when we stopped for a drink.

why not.. I stole it the thing with it is th modded ones are thicker, I could have made the cutout bigger but then you would lose the inside ally web thing that gives it strength.. there is a natural line to follow... I am hoping to powder coat them tomorrow so will post some finnished pictures...

Cool, thanx for the heads up on the webbing. I saw it in the shots but cool to point it out too.

I was just thinking the same thing when I seen them.
That first picture with the raw holes drilled looked scary at first but after seeing the finished product I kinda like the raw look. Probably wouldnt look right on your particular setup though. Black would look way better

Is that done with one of those cheap powder coating kits like you would get from Harbor Freight? (not sure if you know Harbor Freight or not but they sell cheap tools) I have heard those cheap ones don't polarize the metal well enough but never tried one or seen one used. I have toyed with getting one but didn't want to waste my money.

That's why I can't paint, I can't wait long enough for it to dry before messing with it.

Looking cool! Glad you liked the idea of having the rear part of the sprocket cover cut. I was thinking that maybe it's possible to get the coating matte? Sanding? If not, I'd say you have to strip this one before putting a new one on. Maybe you already knew that... BTW, what temperature do you need for baking the powder?

the coating is done at 180c for about 5 minutes..
I am going with the satin finish next, slightly less gloss.
As an experiment I am going to sand lightly, then reheat the part to 100c, recoat with powder then bake for 6 minutes at 180c..
Will post pictures on how it turns out.. this wont be done now until I make a new oven, mines just too small.

I am soooo going to do that to my spare sprocket cover, but I think I'll add some "speed holes" while I'm at it.

Eastwood sells great kits for around $100. Work great. You can heat the low temp powders in a toaster oven if'n ya got an old one. Key points are; metal must be clean, no touchy with fingers after cleaning. Any edges have to be filed- rounded. Sharp edges make the powder pull back off of them. Just a little rounding on an edge and the powder flows over it. As far as the juice, make sure your electrical contacts are good. Whatever you suspend the piece from must have good contact when you blow the powder on. Just a few things I had drilled into me by my friend. One last thing, cant use gloss to match our bikes, satin isn't too far off, but you can get flat black.

Well the latest is I have the Satin Black and have made a bigger oven so I wont be knocking the parts as they go in the oven I am also going to make a slightly larger area for spraying, again, its too small and knocking parts is an issue... IF the oven turns out ok Ill also post some pictures of that.. got to cover the electrics on it at the moment as there out in the open and are LIVE LOL

Migt be a while yet before I get this finished.. the oven is not reaching higher than 120c which is too low.
Looks like the oven needs lining to retain the heat so the parts wont be done for a while, plus I want to grind some more out of the peg hangers as on close inspection I didnt do a great job (rushing again)

Update::::
Have lined the oven with baking foil retained by mesh and temp now hits 200c in 10 minutes.. what a difference, hope to get at the parts this weekend for the satin finish.. pictures to follow.

ya know I was gonna say that its a shame about the texturing effect on the sprocket cover, but then I realized that the whole motor has it textured like that. So its definately a pretty close match.

How are you liking those rearsets?
Raask definitely has the cleanest design of those I have seen.

Brokenfixed: yes I also thought ooeer to the texturing but now its on its a pretty good match, much better than the straight gloss. TxSpeedster: Being a veritcally challenged bloke, 28" inside leg, I LOVE the rearset positiuon... however, I do have nearly 90 degree bends at the knees which some may NOT like, it suits my riding style and I find cornering so much better now and if I need to stretch my legs out on a long run I can still do that by resting the backs of my heels on the pegs.. And for those in the UK mandp.co.uk are selling them for £135 posted!! personally I think its a pricing error but hey.. a bargains a bargain

I wonder if those Raask Reasets would work with footboards.

I have a feeling the angle would not allow them to be used, the board would hit the gear lever and the brake pedal..

I went the other way with my pegs. I lowered them at a leg angle of about 1.5".

Each to their own and thats what I like about these bikes.. no 2 end up the same, I had major issues with the pegs at stadard hitting the road on round abouts.. specially 2 up
