I got to see the new Thunderbird last night at Cascade Moto Classics. I am stil undecided if I like it. My first reaction is that it just really isnt Triumphy enough. Other than the huge parallel twin, there is nothing about it that jums out at you and says that it is a Triumph. To me it pretty much look like just another generic cruiser. I did get to sit on it, the tank is monsterously wide.

The one thing that keeps those near the bottom of the maybe someday list for me is the weight. With no accessories, the running weight is very close to the HD geezer-glides, not something you'd want when you live up a dirt road. No hope if they ever pave the road either, I'll be moving out before the California land developers come in and start throwing up ticky-tacky houses all over.

It seems Triumph's new slogan is, "Go your own way as long as it the same way as everyone else."

Are not the first several thousand pre-orders being delivered in a few weeks?

Yeah, the parallel twin is about the only distinctive thing I see... look at it next to a Speedmaster and it just doesn't compare. I can see the desire to fill the gap between 865cc and 2300cc in their curiser line, but man... seems a bit of wasted potential to me.
