I just bought an 09 America 3 weeks ago. I had them install a tach and the tach worked fine for a week. Now the tach gets off by 500 rpms every time I ride. Later I found at the end of each ride, if i hit the kill switch the tach will drop 500 rpm, so when i kill the engine and the tach reads 1000 I hit the kill switch two times to bring it back to zero. has anyone else experianced the same thing?

Mine does it all the time. Don't know a solution to the problem. I have disconnected it and reconected it and it worked ok for a few days. Then right back to the same thing. I don't know.

What happens when you turn it off with the key?

forgive me but wtf? The tach registers a steady 1000 with the engine off? And touching the kill switch changes the reading?

Ok, I will bring it back to the dealer. I just wanted to make sure it was a problem and it's not that these tachs just act goofy that way. All my previous bikes did not have tachs.
