Front brake Caliper snapped in 2 and sliced Speedo cable. Repaired in under 12 hours on warranty. Any ideas what may have caused it?? Rode 2 miles, after sitting for a couple of weeks, and pulled in for gas, travelled another half mile when heard a "pop" and lost speedo, pulled over to find caliper in 2 pieces hanging below brakes.

New one by me! Never heard of that happening on our bikes... or any other bike.

It was a shock to me but Triumph had no problem replacing both the caliper and speedo cable.

I guess not, considering the potential liability they might have faced if you had suffered personal injury... or worse! What year is your bike and what's the mileage on it?

No fraid no ,was so P^^^^^d that I nursed it home trying to stay off front brake and called a dealer to come pick it up.Still amazed it was exactly 24hrs from pick up to return. Repaired and cleaned. Apart from not knowing why it happened my only other issue is why won't Triumph pay for the Pick up as it was obviously a manufacturer defect. Got a call into Triumph about that.

That's scary. Reminds me of a Savage Arms .222 rifle I had. The breech exploded one day, and when I took it to an independent gunsmith, he said the metal behind the chamber was defective. The dealer gave me a brand new Remington worth three times as much and took the Savage no questions asked.

It had to be a freak thing. There had to be some sort of defect in the metal. A one in a million thing. Glad it all worked out okay and didn't wind up tangled in the front wheel. That could have been tragic.
