Well I rode my bike to work this morning and rode for a while this evening. Last night I changed the vacuum springs in the carbs but did not get a chance to road test it until today. Remember I also found a broken vacuum spring on the left carb too. Well I am quite impressed with the results, she screams. The only thing that I am not sure about is that I sent my igniter to Triumph Twin Power in the UK to have the rev limiter bumped up and remapped. A year or two ago I was having problems with my bike shutting down once I hit the rev limiter. Trash gave me the fix for this (Disconnect the TPS wires under the seat) that worked just as described, no more shut down. Now that I got my igniter back (TPS wires still disconnected) the bike is shutting down again when I hit the rev limiter. I hate when it does that and could be dangerous in the right situation. I am contemplating hooking the wires back up to see what will happen since it was doing the same thing before I disconnected the wires in the first place. What do I have to lose? But if anyone is thinking about doing this mod and loves speed, GREEN LIGHTS ARE A GO!! You will not be disappointed!

So you were hitting the rev limiter and had it bumped up and you still hit it? How high did you go? How do you like the throttle response?

Do you mean the CDI mod, the spring mod, or both?

I had it bumped up to 8500 rpm, granted I do not hit it like I used to but now that the throttle response is MUCH better I hit it twice today. I will watch for it a little closer but she still seems to be pulling when it does hit the rev limiter but I wouldn't want to go any higher that that. Again I am EXTREMELY happy with the results of my last two upgrades! I don't know my horsepower readings as I have never had it dyno'd but I would sure think that it is up there with the best of them.

Both,
So far my mods are:
904 Wiseco Big Bore
Mild Head Work
Custom open exhausts from Hermy's (DBA's Not sure if they are still available).
Modified Air Box with UNI Filter
Carbs rejetted (not sure but I think 45's and 145's if I remember right)
NOLOGY Coils and Wires
Side Gapped Plugs
Igniter upgrade thru Triumph Twin Power
Slides drilled
Kawasaki Vacuum Springs
Barnett Clutch Springs
Oh and a Chrome Cam cover
I don't think I left anything out

you may want to find a dyno and make sure you're not too lean, 145's with 904 and headwork seems a little light

Yes that is high on my priority list now. I may have 150's in but it has been a while since I installed them.

You may also be running into this. As you have raised your rev limiter past 8100. The 270 firing system does not read past 8100 very well. It can get confused and result in complete shutdown. There's no easy fix for this as far as I know.

OK, then maybe this is my problem. Regardless I am still extremely satisfied with my mods so far. Thanks again Trash for your advice before when I was having problems with it shutting down after hitting the rev limiter. Thanks

Come up with a fix for it now and I will be ecstatic!
