-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think that everyone who rides out of their local area should get roadside assistance. Then one simply callls an 800 number when stranded, crashed or disabled by the side of the road. Usually a truck arrives within an hour to rescue or retrieve the bike and riders after a mishap, running out of gas or a breakdown. The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) now has free roadside assistance (MOTOW) for those that sign up and renew online. Membership costs $39 a year and everyone who enjoys riding on a regular basis should join up. Protect your right to ride and stay safe in the process. www.americanmotorcyclist.com

Optionally, if you're a AAA member, the PlusRV membership they offer covers RVs, Trailers and your beloved motorcycle(s) for what looks like $15 above your existing membership fee. Worth a look at: http://www.aaamidatlantic.com/AAA/Membership/BenefitsGuide

My new membership card lists it as an 877 number but it is good "peace of mind" and the AMA is the real deal.

Yep, they thought that one through.

Good idea on the roadside assistance. Meanwhile I just wanted to ask how long you've owned your motorcycle dealership.

FWIW, I doubt any help would be coming in an hour here. And, the only AAA office in the state is some 250 - 300 miles away.
