I know the plugs are 18mm, but does anyone know if the socket is a standard size or is it metric as well. I'm in my office and can't pull a plug to compare. I was setting up an appointment with a friend to check my compression. He wanted to know if the plug fitting (hole) was standard or if not, what size? He said many metric cars use metric plugs but the base is standard.

You know I was wondering about that. I was looking at the Cruz Tools kit and the plug socket in the kit didn't fit our plugs. Now I know what to get.

So if one was capable of wiring a second coil for each side, we could have 2 plugs on each piston? Has anybody looked into this? I know ford does this 2 spark plug per cylinder on their ranger's 4 cyl. Wondering if it were possible, because it would increase some HP wouldn't it?

The new Thunderbird has 4 sparkplugs too, 2 per cylinder.

It could only be for looks. The AI hole does not go into the combustion chamber. It goes into the exhaust port.

Yesterday, I decided to buy the Craftsman Compression Test kit. It was on sale (online) and comes with all adaptors (inc. 12mm) and snap on cables in a storage box. I wanted to be able to do my own compression checks (dry and wet) to help determine why my engine is using oil. When I have all the results, I'll call my service dealer back.
