Picked this up today for next to nothing at closing down sale. Great little tool, showed up the chain ajustment markings on bike to be out by nearly 1/2 a mark.

sounds like a good idea.
Any more info? How does it work?
Where does it measure from?

I have laser levels and could probably adapt them to do the same thing.

Thanks

Dead easy to use, hold CNC machined edge plate onto rear sprocket. Laser dot shines straight down edge of chain (hopefully) If not ajust till it doe's.
To be honest I would not have bought one if it had been at full retail price but this was a bargain.

I'd check with The_Dog before you spend any money on one of those. I seem to recall that he is not an advocate of chain maintenance of any kind - No wax, no cleaning and certainly no alignment. However, even if he did, I'm sure he knows some McGiverish way to do it with a crowbar, a broom stick, and a wad of used duct tape.

Bodger, I picked up one of those a couple of years ago and they do work as advertised.
My marks are off by almost a half also.

Not true, it does have to be aligned. I just measure from the swing arm pivot to the axle, center to center. Can use any fixed point on the bike to measure as long as it's the same on both sides. The lazer tool works well if you want to spend the money, it's your money. The cheaper version with a metal rod works just as well.

I have a 3/32 piece of piano wire 1 foot long that is straight that I hold against the sprocket above the chain for alignment. Works the same as the lazer but very cheap.
