Well, It's official. Today I gave the America to my youngest son Steven. You'll notice the bottom of his tag, "Under 21". (He hates that! ) I know theres no shortage of crusty old geezers, many celebrating triple digit birthdays, riding Americas, but I wonder if he's the youngest America owner @ 20 years of age?
And you may see me tonight

Good grief, Dwight! You're only about a hundred away from a 10,000 post count. Don't you have a life in your retirement?

Ya, in my day, you couldn't "give" it away, you had to sell it for a dollar, which I was ready to do. But when I mentioned to the lady that it was a gift for making the Eagle rank in Scouting, she wrote "gift" on the paperwork, and no charge for tax. I was suprised.

I agree. HOPEFULLY, when a-hole cagers see it, maybe they'll give him some slack. I can only hope so.

I seem to remember that $1 trick as well, but gift transfers have been allowed for years now in Florida.
From the Florida DHSMV:
Is it legal to give a car as a gift to a family member, or do I have to put a dollar figure on it (for example $1)?
It is legal to give a car to a family member or anyone else, however, a bill of sale or an affidavit should be completed by both parties to verify this information for the Department of Revenue.

The tax thing is similar in NY as well. My mom gave my oldest daughter a car before she passed away last year and it will be tax exempt. There is a $10K though. When I bought a car from my dad once, all he had to do was fill out the gift tax form and say it was worth $9900 and no tax was paid by me either.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

My heart is with the H2. I love taking the silencers off and ripping around the neighborhood. (pisses Mr. Rogers off!) But I won't go more than 5-10 miles away from home on it. I share the GS850 with my oldest son. Basically, I'M THE ROOSTER AROUND HERE, AND I'LL TAKE WHATEVER VEHICLE I WANT, WHENEVER I WANT, AND THATS THAT! (provided there IS a vehicle here) We (I) need a "cocky" Graemlin for our (my) arrogant posts.

Yeah, but he's OUR pup! Maybe if we meet at a ride, they can arm wrestle for the "Top Pup" award.

I bought mine at age 23, and am 26 now. I'm definitely one of the younger cruisers among my circle and am quite happy to be so!

Way to go for him making EAGLE that is a rareity . I all so have one of those in the house. Have all ways told him its the journey not the eagle that is the best part. Was a scout master for a long time got 8 of my boys to eagle. Would not change those memories for anything.

Thanks to you and Dave. Both of my boys have made Eagle. The oldest started as a Tiger, the youngest was a "tag-a-long", untill he could start as a Tiger. Both made Arrow of Light in Cub Scouts as well. It's been 18 years for me in Scouting, and I'm still there, as my youngest is now in Venturing. "What a long, strange trip is been!"

I went into the Explorers when I was 16 as a Life scout and finished my Eagle work there. It was a great time, Explorers are co-ed and 16-21!

Ya, both of them went to Venturing because its co-ed, 14-20. I'm sure there were other reasons too? I was in Explorers in High School, was taking FREE ground school classes toward getting a private pilots license, but QUIT going! (yes, I was a dumb-ss even before I got older)

I was in the sea explorers, there was nothing like taking some hot little number out on a sail boat in the middle of a huge lake! Man, good times...
