I hate the blue on my stock pipes. I was considering getting my pipes coated with black ceramic. Has anyone done this already and if so what issues do i need to look out for. Also any ideas on cost and top notch places to get it done would be appreciated. Thanks

Oooh, goody I get to show off again! I have to admit that the original owner TBANGA did this prior to me buying the bike so I don't know the cost. I do know that VHT makes a good ceramic paint (about $10 a can) and if you have access to a big oven (or a very understanding wife) you can do it yourself. The three heat/cool cycles to cure the ceramic is just too long for an air cooled engine to do it on the bike.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. Herm Albright (1876 - 1944)

Love seeing the bike of yours. One of my favorites! Didn't know VHT makes ceramic paint. Gives me some ideas.
Live to love, love to live.

Jet-Hot gave me a quote of $115 satin black ceramic coating on a pair of D&D mufflers, not including the reverse cone endcaps or the heat shield. Price didn't include shipping. Haven't gotten around to sending them in yet. I might try VHT first.

Everytime I see a picture of that bike, I want to ceramic coat my SS's. Perhaps next winter.
Didn't buy into the hype, you can keep the change.

Nothing looks better then polished pipes or even painted pipes. That dis-colouration does suck but even with the air injectin removed it is only prosponed, but it is a visual trophy of the number of miles/km's riden.

I actually don't mind the blueing, as long as it's confined to the headers, preferably close to the engine.

I wiuld agree but prefer to have her look like new and then tell people she has got a ton of miles on her. It's like people thinking your wife is your daughter. Jealousy drives the others crazy.

looks like Wolf Blasting can coat your pipes too. From the vendor section... http://www.bonnevilleamerica.com/forums/...0&fpart=all

Got my headers, and cans ceramic coated @ jethot for about 350 w/the shipping. They look incredible, and have gotten a lot of positive comments. You'll want to choose the semi-gloss black from them if you want it to match the frame. Bikes in the shop, so I'll post pics when I get it back.
