Hello!
Like to share some information from an artical about tuning modern Triumph engines in the Swedish motorcycle magazin MCM (issue nr 3 -09). The engine was in a 790cc/360 degree 2004 Bonneville Black. The aim of the artical was to tune as good as possible without major changes like the BB Kit. First step was according to our normal procedure; more air in, free flow pipes and jetting. Result 67 Bhp/75 Nm torque. Second step was to port the intake side + shaving of .8 mm of the top - raising the compression to 10:1. Result 75 Bhp/85 Nm torque. Step 3 was to adjust the firing curve and remove the revlimit. But they did not have dyno figures from that yet but says that it removes the well known mid range dip and gives about 3 Bhp on top.

Also in the magazin was also a long artical about our friend Turbo-Jojje and all his different projects like a 240 Bhp Triumph twin Pro Street bike. Or an America with turbo.

Is this true, that there's a "well known" mid-range dip? I think that's what I'm detecting at hwy speeds. Someone here suggested changing the jetting/needles, but it doesn't feel like a mixture problem to me. I've suspected it might be the advance curve, but the only way to know would be to examine the data, which I don't have. How is the curve changed? Can dealers do this?
