Have been running 87 grade fuel since new, stock EFI BA with TORs, with no real problems. Tried a 1/2 tank on 89 last weekend and noticed an increase in popping on closed throttle over the 87. Runs strong, but I was just wonderin....what does everyone use?

Since going 904 my scoot seems to prefer the higher grade (98 here) over the 95 I ran before. A little more expensive, I know, but I've got really good mileage so I'm not complaining. Around 41 mpg or 5,7 l/100 km. To be honest, I was expecting the fuel consumption to rise after the BB.

you should run the lowest grade you can without the engine pinging. Octane is not a quality rating it is resistance to pre-ignition. With the 904 I can see a possible need for a little higher rating due to the increased compression.

I know that, but as I said good mileage - great performance - happy camper! Hasse and I will do a Dyno session soon, and we'll se what the numbers will be. I recently went back to the #42 pilots due to some hesitation on lower speeds, but that's gone now. A little more popping, but that's quite sexy IMHO...

Even with the 904BB I run mid-grade (89) and don't have any problem, pinging, etc. I can't see any advantage to go higher if not needed. I probably should be a little more picky as to brands as I don't favor any brand.

If you fellows don't mind spending extra $$$'s on a higher octane gasoline for an engine that really doesn't need it, why not just send your extra $$$ to Ian and I. We won't mind one bit and we really need it for more chrome.
