Even though I'm sending out my head for a port and polish, I was curious what valve spring compressor tool is used for our bikes? Anybody got a link or pic of one?

The one for the triples works on some of them, won't work on all the springs. Have to pull the cams.

Edit- I got mine from K & L Cycles in '06. Its for Triumph 3 and 4 cylinder engines. There is a note that says it should work on 2 cyl Bonnies, it doesn't.

Do you mean a compressor to remove the valves or to change shims. I think Lonzo means the lever type that you use to change shims.

To remove valves you need one similar to this

Found it here but it just happens to be the first site that came up on Google for that type of tool. compressor

Yeah, that's what I was curious about...a valve spring compressor to remove the valves. Actually, taking them out is the easy part, it's getting them back in. I bought one of these, but obviously it won't work.

After 66,000 miles, I have some carbon buildup on the underside of the valves, so I was going to take them out, clean them up and put them back in with new seals. After thinking about my options though, I just decided to send my head off to get it ported and polished, plus the new valve seals.

If you did do that you would need some lapping compound and cup to grind them in again. Also use something that won't wipe off to mark each valve and valve opening so each one goes back where it came out.
