Long time voice of the Phillies and NFL films died today in Washington. An icon in the city of Philadelphia. A class act that will be sorely missed.

I hope he's the play by play guy for the "Field of Dreams" in the sky. RIP Harry.

A sad day for baseball. I listened to the Phillies game on the radio yesterday, they got choked up announcing the game at times.

I have been listening to Harry the K since he came here in 1972 from Houston. It is hard to imagine how any other announcer could become such a large part of the fabric of the community as he did. From all reports, he was a true gentleman at all times to all people; from the people on the maintenance crew to the very top people he circulated amongst. He and Whitey (Richie Ashburn) were an unbeatable team up until Richie's death in '98. And I am one of those who was very upset that the Phillies broke up the team of By Saam and Bill Campbell who had done the Phillies games since the 50s when they brought Harry in. He did a huge amount of charity work throughout this area without ever drawing attention to the fact that he was doing it. It is hard to believe there will ever be another one like him.
