I am looking to add a travel bag to my TBA and the Ventura Pack looks pretty attractive considering what all it comes with. Does anyone have an opinion on it or an alternative arrangent for packing for a trip?

You might take a look at revpack.com I have their 71 liter bag and I am happy with it. It also doesnt need the support rack. It has straps that wrap under the pillion seat. It does have side bags that hang down below the seat and get close to the rear fender chrome strip, I havent had a problem with that but I have to watch how I pack.

I have the Kuryakyn Gran Tour bag. It works very well, holds oodles of stuff, in fact it's more than what I need. It attaches either to a sissy bar or under the pillion seat. Nice sturdy bag, I recommend it.

If I remember correctly Alberta Todd had Ventura packs when he had a vision quest & converted from Triumph sportbike to SM . It looked great to me. Easy to load securely on the bike, lots of capacity, low centre of gravity. Although you don't have to stuff the bags to the breaking point. They detach as fast as attach, so if you're on the road, it's quick and easy to haul your gear into a motel room. jh

I have used the Ventura system on my Speedmaster since 2003 and have found it to be an excellent choice for this style of bike. As Freedom mentioned Todd purchased the system for his 03 Speedtriple after having a look at mine in Nelson in 04. When he bought his Speedmaster he transferred the system onto that bike. The things that really sold me on the Ventura was the ability to mix and match bags, capacity, ease of removal, and the bikes width is not increased when the bags are mounted.

I've used the large sized bag since I bought my bike in 06 but instead of using their rack, mine slips over a Corbin back rest and sits on my rack. Works really well as it slips on and off real easy and I find the bag waterproof, durable and has a number of pockets etc. Yep, I like mine and will always have it as part of my luggage system including Hepco and Becker side bags (I'm greedy - mmmmmooowwwwaaaahhhhhhhhh - btw, that was a greedy persons laugh
