Putting this in customs as it is my custom made main stand. Although I do have a bike lift I miss a main stand for washing wheels and lubing chain etc, so I decided to have a go at making one, could buy the Rivco one but its kind of expensive. work is still in progress. I have been measuring up, taking into work, welding , bring home and check, been at it two weeks now, It holds the bike ok( even with my welding ) next week I should have the retract bump stop sorted and the spring mounting . made out of 1" X 1/4 flat bar , and some 1" pipe. best bit is the feet are stainless . I dont plan to go into production so Rivco are safe.

Might want to gusset the legs to the cross member.

Yes Ian, was thinking of a loop of 3/8 or so bar from each leg meeting in the middle of crossover. The crossover box section is from my sons bed, well old bed that is, cut it up and kept the steel rather than dump it, knew it would be handy one day.

The extra extension ramps for my car trailer are made from angle from an old bed frame. I always keep good lengths of steel! Never know when you may need it. I have a whole incinerator that was junked to me. It was never assembled and I have all the plate and strap sitting out back.
The 3/8 loop would do the trick, it may have been OK as is but I wouldn't want to chance it.

Looks like a well made stand.
Two years ago I had one designed on CAD and the first prototype made. We were in the first stage of testing and working out the bugs and I sent out for bids. The cheapest cost to get a center stand manufactured in the US was $400-my cost. I thought it was just nuts but everyone had a lot of business then and wanted nothing to do with a small project(lots of 50). I bet some of those guys would be a whole lot more interested in the business today.
So good for you and good for Rivco-some things aren't meant to be.

Looking good buddy, roughly how heavy is it? Using stock steel i'm guessing about another 15 to 10 lbs added dry weight?

Looks great! One concern....in the above picture...can that spring catch the brake line? If so you might want to run a longer length of that rubber tube over it.

No idea of the weight guys, but less than the weight saved when the pipes where changed. The spring is clear of the rear brake pipe by enough I think, picture is a bit deceptive, thats as close as it gets in the down position.

Agreed. Looks real good.
Hey Redbike. Would you be interested in posting some dimensions on the stand you were going to manufacture? If you aren't goint to pursue the project, I'm sure a lot of the fellows wouldn't mind using them to manufacture their own.
If not, you could always sell copies of the prints online. That way it isn't a total loss and we all benefit.
