My first three singles came off the back of a cereal box. The Archies, Bang-Shang-A-Lang, and I can't remember the other two. You cut them right off the back of the box, made of cardboard, played just fine!(Bobbie Sherman did this too)
First Album- The Beatles, Abbey Road

First Album- Grand Funk Shinin'On

It had removable 3D glasses on the front cover!

First single was The Archies- "Sugar,Sugar".
It came on a box of Post Super Sugar Crisp. You cut it out of the box. Had to put a quarter near the center to weight it down so it would play.

I thought your first single was "Poor Little Fool"?

When I was a kid, my uncle in Wilkes-Barre PA (near Harvey's Lake)had an all purpose, gas station, hunting-fishing store that I worked at in the summer. He sold a little bit of everything, including boot-leg 8-track tapes. These had a generic cover of some psychedelic, groovy people with the name of the album/track on the back. They sounded OK to me and he gave me the pick of what I wanted on each delivery. About every month or so, the PA State Police would show up and confiscate all the tapes (after buying some ammo/fishing supplies/b-sing with my Uncle). That night, on the way home we stopped a bar named "Jigger Jones" where a guy in a pick up gave him a re-up. My parents were pretty straight-laced and never new this stuff went on at this gas station........

Wish I still had some of those 8-tracks.

I've often wondered if some of these bootleg copies may one day be more valuable than the originals because they are more rare??

My sister, who is five years older than my self , had a boy friend who played in a local band [The Coachmen] This guy use to drag me along to gigs around the northwest so I was exposed to the rock seen early. For my 12th birthday he gave me a Sonics album [early Seattle band] The rest of the story Involves my twisted decent into the 60's & early 70's.Not a purchase but the seed for many to follow.

That was only after pilaging all my albums while I was in the Navy. Or should I say, you made sure they didn't get lonely while I was gone.

No singles (my older sister had them, mostly Elvis)

After 8 track my brother and I got into vinyl, I think the first I bought was Led Zepplin, Houses of the Holy.

An interesting note, my oldest brother was stationed in Germany in the mid-sixty's and purchased some early Beatle albums, (Early Bealte's, Rubber Soul and few others)and still have those, they were on the Parlaphone label I think.

Still have all my vinyl (hundreds ) plus CD's now.

My first album was The Beach Boys Endless Summer. After that things really got rockin' with album #2 Pink Floyd Dark Side of The Moon followed by everything Led Zeppelin ever did. Now my Ipod is loaded with a collection which probably best describes who I am . I feel badly for people who don't have music in their lives.

To a real Dead Head it has always been that way. The commercial stuff is too sanitized and a bootleg is worth much more and more desirable.I like both commercial Dead and the bootleg stuff. Wish I could find a copy of the 2 days I was at Cap Center and Bruce Hornsby was on the keyboards. He did Space and it was great! they also did drums the other night and that was cool too!

"For my 12th birthday he gave me a Sonics album [early Seattle band]"

Hey Gunter, I just saw the Sonics Last Halloween. The first show in 30 some odd years in the Northwest. It was amazing. One of my favorite bands and no outside the Northwest seems to have heard of them.

My first single: Centerold by J. Geils Band (this I do not have)
My first album: Rat Music for Rat People Volume 1 (DOA, Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Dead Kennedys, Avengers, The Dils, Bad Brains, etc...) I still have it.
