Been helping to sort stuff with my Dad's move and came across some the old records I bought as a kid.
Was nice to find the first ever single and album that I bought...

First Single - Are friends electric – Tubeway Army/ Gary Numan

First Album – Highway to 'ell – ACDC

Remember I was after Back in Black at the time. It had just come out though and had sold out locally, so bought Highway instead, £3.49 I think. At a quid a week almost a month’s pocket money!
My haven’t things changed – vinyl to CD to MP3s ... IMO (unscratched) vinyl will always sound ‘warmer’... Like valve amps...

Album: Incredible Shinking Dickies by The Dickies

Are Friends Electric is a good one to kick off with!

First single: Chicago 25 or 6 to 4. It was such a letdown to discover that the album version had been butchered to fit on the 45rpm that I never bought another.

First album: Mancini '67

My first single was ....errrrr Dancing Queen - Abba

But that was a present for my mum because she was always singing it around the house.

But my first album was Rainbow Rising.

Ah nice, I still enjoy old Rainbow. Saw them once in the 70's from the 2nd row. Ritchie Blackmore just played, staring into the crowd unmoving, weird guy.

It changed my life (of course I was only 15 years old)

That was only after pilaging all my albums while I was in the Navy. Or should I say, you made sure they didn't get lonely while I was gone.

I really can't remember the first single or album I bought. But, I think the first piece of vinyl I bought was the 7" of "Star Wars" by Meco.

BTW... I just picked up Adrenalin O.D.'s "The wacky hi-jinks of" on CD. I'm glad a lot of those old punks bands are finally reissuing their stuff on CD.

One of my good friends is Richie Blackmore. Always cracked me up since my friend has nothing to do with any band but he does play the trumpet. (also kind of ironic)

My first single I think was a song about Nam, all I can remember is the line "black pajamas are everywhere" I'll have to look through them and see if I can find it for the name.

EDIT: I don't have to look I just remembered, it was called Routine Patrol.

It just dawned on me that I have also never purchased a single. I get the AOR radio influence must have worked! Sadly, those days are long gone on terrestrial radio.

45 rpm single: either "409", "Little Deuce Coupe" or "Shut Down" by the Beach Boys...I'm too foggy to remember which came first.
33 1/3 rpm LP: The Beatles "Something New" which I'm not certain was ever released in the US.
