http://www.ironpony.com/ironponydirect/p.../Class2/HelmetsIf you are in the market for a 1/2 helmet check these guys out. Its not a lot bigger than the novilty types but is DOT aproved.I also tried the Skid Lid brand and the Fulmer brand of this style. They are all priced within $15 of each other.I liked the Vega one best because it sat lower on my head and I felt it would stay on better at speed. I just bought one and like it a lot. I use it for wearing around town. It doesn't give you that Marvin the Martian look(much). Just as importantly it stays on your head and doesn't try to strangle you when going over 40mph. My full face gets a smidge warm to wear during the summer here in Vegas.

I have a leather vega, had it for 6 years now, I think it's great, my only mistake was not getting one with the zip on ear covers. Those would be nice on the chilly Western new york rides. jeff

then I looked at the website and realized it's leather covered. Cool! For the $$, I gotta check one out.

Sorry I should have been more descriptive about the leather. I knock mine around a lot and it really stands up to abuse. A shiny helmet would be a mess by now for me, but it would give me the excuse to buy all those little stickers to cover up the bad spots!

The carbon fiber helmets are cool,I like them too. Just a bit pricy at $185.

I currently have a Bell Shorty - $100.00. I like it... comes with a zip-out neck curtain too. Bell Shorty
