I had a quick look here but found nothing to help Today after riding for an hour and half i stopped to fuel up and when starting the bike , it didn't want to ,the idiot lites were blank ,head light blank ,i found if i played with the ignition switch and had it about half way between off and on the lights worked but would not start the bike , i checked the battery for loose terminals and then checked the volts , both fine ,we then jumped started it when the key was at half way and it fired and ran fine , checked the charging rate ,fine ,turn it off and no go again , put the key back on half way and it goes again , rode it home about an hour away ,it ran fine , tried starting again ,nothing ,pulled the ignition out and apart and it has a lot of ware on the contact`s , so am assuming this is the problem , so what i am asking after all that is has any one else had ignition prob`s

By the sounds of Ian it is just wear and tear on the switch, never had this problem myself but have nowhere near the mileage you have.
I am sure someone will get back to you, but it does sound like you need to replace the ignition switch..

Do you have info on the new switch? (part number and cost?) I think at 30k, mine is suspect.

Why not put an after market switch on instead of the stock one if the stock is expensive or have to wait for it. It's a simple off/on switch with a park position that we don't need here in the US not sure if it's required anywhere else in the world. Might find one that fits right in. Here are some Emgo switches click But there are generic switches you can get from V Twin among others just be sure to get the die cast one the stamped ones don't hold up for long. Here is a shot of the generic switch I use. The pic is from JC Whitney for $10.49 but the same switch is available many places. I have been using them on my old bikes for many years and they seem to hold up to the vibration and weather the best.

Well the plot thicken`s , priced a new switch $440.00 AU So i thought i better get an expert opinion on the switch and asked a auto election i know and he recon`s there`s nothing wrong with the switch , the wear is not enough to be a problem , he suggested putting it back together and looking for another problem which he could not help with without the bike So Back home , put it all together and as you would expect ,nothing bloody wrong everything worked , it started , light`s indicator`s horn, , gives me the s..t`s , save myself $440.00 and am not happy Will just have to wait till it happens again to source the problem , thank`s for the input
