Kenny, I believe its either a sticky slide or a sticky valve, this would also cause it to backfire, perhaps a bit of carbon on the valve seat, also recheck your clearances,Another possibility is the one of the tabs on the needle holder may be blocking the vacuum hole on the slide. hope this helps, cheers, Tadpole

Thanks for the help guys but no luck problem did not go away. I have learned to take my carbs apart though so that's good.
Here's a question. which end of the needle jet goes into it's hole first?
if life gives you lemons keep them because hey,free lemons.

the needle jet lives in the same hole that the main jet holder screws into, but it can go in two ways and only one is right. The manual warns about putting it in upside down but doesn't show which is which.

Are you talking about the tiny piece on the chamber side of the jet collar? It's like 1/4" long? The more open side goes towards the chamber. Make sense?

yes, that's what I wanted to know, that little piece according to the manual, is called the needle jet. it came out when I was cleaning the carb and I didn't know which way it goes back in. thanks.
