Get at least a little shard of a bobber fender or you may be a " wetback " .

Check out some "Brat syle" bikes. They are usually swingarms with seriously bobbed rear fenders. If you want it to look right you have to lower the rear.

unfortunately I have no more pics of this set up to offer... I rode on it for a day or 2 and quickly decided it wasn't very good...The rear shocks on the SM are only 11" long and set up to compress to 10 1/2" when loaded static (sat on). Somewhere I may still have the rough mould of the fender... I'll have a look and let you know any other details..

If you remove the whole thing, you will need to get rid of the airbox as well. The airbox mounts through a big hole in the fender.

Tony, I sent you a PM a few days ago with a pic. of my fenderless America. I guess you didn't get it, or don't know it's there.
Anyway, if you search "customs", you'll see my posts titled "wife says I really screwed this one up!", posted on 9-3-08, and "follow up to;"wife said..."",posted 9-5-08.
The main thing to keep in mind when considering removing or "bobbing" the rear fender is that the first thing everyones gonna say is "don't plan on riding in the rain!".

NO SHlT!

Removing the FRONT fender is going to ruin your wet riding pleasure, as thats the one thats going to put a water fountain in your face. The rear will only add a little to the effect.
