That's something else. Happens all the time just don't hear about it like you used to. That video on the page left a lot to be desired could have been a school yard scuffle if you don't read the article.

It was a Hells Angels member that was killed. I can just imagine the retalliation to come.

the buildup has begun all around here, outlaws in north carolina and hells angels in south carolina and both have begun infringing into the other state and trying to get the smaller independant clubs on one side or the other. i live close to the state line and they are all around me now. i remember the wars in the 70s and i dread it happening again.

The reason this phenomenon exists is really very simple, Chris!
Yep! You see, morons, just like ALL of humanity's varied cultures, sub-cultures and sub-sub-cultures(and so forth and so on), have a tribalistic need to be with their own kind, and thus whenever these tribalistic differences, ESPECIALLY IF, say, in cases such as this, each of these sorts of sub-sub-cultures happen to have a collective deep anti-social(in a general population sense, you understand) tendency AND happen to be in close proximity to one another, violence is often the result.
(...OR, to just simplify this whole explanation...they're just socially-retarded, and once again, in a general population sense, MORONS...period!)

OH!!! And...BEFORE anybody around here feels the need to come to the defense of THESE kinds of "organizations", OR a few of their members who you might have met in your life and might feel the need to say something such as, "Well, some of them are really pretty good folks at heart", PLEASE spare me your rationales!!!
(...because, to be honest with ya here, you will NEVER be able to make ANY rational sense for somebody to belong to ANY ONE of THESE TYPES of "organizations", period...so do yourself a favor here and SAVE your time, your effort AND your keystrokes for something else, and hopefully for a more UPLIFTING and ENLIGHTENED issue!!!....thank you)

I know you're just jokin' here Jackson(and in a way kind of agree with ya here) BUT, how would you like havin' a kid o' yours seein' that kind'a crap all go down in front of 'em while they were on their way to go see Grandma on an aeroplane?
Come to think of it, this reminds me of a George Carlin routine.....
"Here's what we should do will all the 'Tough Guys' in the world. We build one GIGANTIC arena, put 'em ALL in it, and then let 'em all fight to the death to find out which one of 'em is the 'toughest'! And afterward, the ONE meanest, most bada$$ 'Tough Guy' who's still standing at the end of it all, we put HIM up on a pedestal.....and then put a bullet right between his eyes!!!"

If anyone had tried to ambush a bike gang coming off a flight in Heathrow they would have probably got so bored of waiting for them to get through baggage collection that they would have just thought "is it really worth it and how much money are we going to waste on short term parking?"
Before the war on terror, if I saw an unattended package I used to think "I'll be having that!"

So Leno, tell me here, are you attemping to correlate the Hells Angels and similar organizations such as those, WITH an organization who's prime function is to LEGITIMATELY lobby for one's(or what some view anyway as one's) 2nd Amendment RIGHTS???
What "Rights" do the Hells Angels(and the like) legitimately lobby for that are in the interest of everyday ordinary folks out there, be they motorcyclists or not, huh?! What?! They form rallies to ride to state capitols everytime some knucklehead legislator wants to force helmet laws down everybody's thoats or somethin'? H*ll, we have ABATE and the A.M.A for THAT purpose, dude!
So, what "Right" do the H/As help us all secure? What?! The "Right" to not be "hasseled by The Man", like Fonda said in one of those lousy friggin' movies??? That's why those friggin' LAWYERS make all the bread, dude! That's THEIR job! So, which "Rights" are we talkin' about here, HUH?!
Quote:

Uh HUH! They sure are...THANKS to the afforementioned "friggin' lawyers" in this country, LEGITIMATELY fighting for THEIR "Rights"...and hopefully lawyers NOT in the drug/ILLEGAL arms trade part-time, OR the intimidation AND outright MURDER of those who might differ with them about their "endeavors", such as MORE than few of the H/A members appear to HAVE been and continue to be involved in, as "coincidentally" THIS very thread "seems" to be about!
NOW, don't get me WRONG here! Those MORONS have EVERY RIGHT to organize their little "club", have their little "initiation practices", and PARTY, PARTY, PARTY all they WANT, and RIDE, RIDE, RIDE all they want TOO!!! However, PLEASE advise me as to how ANYONE who's formlative years were spent in a REASONABLY healthy family household environment could or WOULD find any enjoyment in joining these sorts of "organizations", UNLESS that grew up in one lousy friggin' family environment in the FIRST PLACE, and now who evidently "NEED" this kind of "Family" to somehow feel "accepted" and/or "respected"???

The issue is one of perception of organizations based upon prejudice, not a comparison of merit. Enemies of the second amendment view the NRA as an extremist organization, possibly with members who ‘grew up in lousy environments and need this kind of association (and guns) to feel accepted and respected.’ They feel any effort spent in advocating the NRA or in arguments contrary to *their* position should be saved for a more ‘uplifting and enlightened issue.’ But since you mentioned it…

H*ll, we have ABATE and the A.M.A for THAT purpose, dude!
A lot of the heavy lifting in motorcyclist rights has been done by the very hardcore motorcycle club members you hold in such contempt. Consider exactly why we presently have ABATE to lobby on our behalf. The AMA has a history of selectivity in their advocacy, and although beneficial to motorcycling on the whole in the past few decades, they laid down rather quickly on the issue of loud pipes and have not been vocal on certain other custom bike issues. The origins of ABATE are found in the National Custom Cycle Organization, founded in by Lou Kimsey, editor of Easyrider magazine. (You know, that Harley/biker lifestyle mag favored by hardcore bikers? Prolly grew up in a lousy environment etc etc) In 1972 the NCCO became ABATE, and a huge proportion of the members were, (and continue to be), hardcore bikers including patch holders in well known motorcycle clubs. Is the work they do somehow lessened because of affiliation? Same with the COC, MMAs, MRAs, etc which lobby on our behalf yet also have large percentages of hardcore patch holders among their membership. Perhaps we should shun the Patriot Riders for allowing undesirable hardcore bikers to participate?
And since you feel so strongly about it, you will be comforted to know that law enforcement is continually seeking to expand their scope of activity and authority in regard to 'dangerous' motorcycle clubs, up to and including riding clubs and motorcycle ministries. (Don't laugh, MM riders have been hassled for Pax Christus tattoos that are now considered to be 'gang symbols') You will no doubt sleep better at night knowing that LEO's at various hardcore motorcycle club sponsored events, toy runs and charity drives, are photographing even the non-club people and bikes in attendance and using the data to compile lists of associates and supporters. But hey, what's having an innocent attendee's name in a federal database in an unfavorable light compared to the self satisfied feeling that at least those 'evil bikers' are getting theirs!
I am not a club member, and have no association beyond casual and riding acquaintance with some who are. I am well aware of the more notorious aspects (embellished and otherwise) of the history of high profile motorcycle clubs... and I certainly do not approve of acts of violence on anyone's part. Although not an apologist, and against such actions as illustrated in the OP, I do object to painting with an overly large brush all members of motorcycle clubs that you do not personally approve of as being criminals or products of broken homes and having self esteem issues. In the same manner that a report of some rube shooting himself in the foot with a .22 will be broadcast by the news with the background image of an AK-47, certain biker news is all too often sensationalized beyond the merits of the story. The overall effect is to reinforce Hollywood stereotypes of 'evil baby killing bikers' who are criminals that just happen to ride motorcycles. The public does not make a real distinction between the club mentioned in the story and any other motorcycle group. Evil Bikers is all they see. And by playing upon this perception law enforcement all too often eagerly breaches individual rights... with our (the motorcyclist community at large) mostly passive assistance.
And know this too, those in our government who strive for behavioral modification of the citizenry via legislation will not be content with the elimination of the popularly labeled 'biker gangs' they will simply move on to the next motorcycling group in the domino line of targets. Eventually they will reach you and me for whatever reason they choose to manufacture with techniques and justifications first perfected on high profile motorcycle clubs. Popular or not, I choose to make my stand concerning the rights of bikers (and others) with the hardcore bikers and motorcycle club patch holders.
By the by, I seriously doubt this exchange would have taken place if you had not proclaimed an opinion from on high and forbade response.
PS: Shyster Lawyers? (pre-edit) I shall appear at your house with the ADL and proceed with a bagel bombardment!

Her's an extract from todays Sydney Morning Herald.
BIKIES would face jail for being members of outlawed clubs under legislation the Government plans to put to Parliament within six months.
But there is understood to be tension between the Minister for Police, Tony Kelly, and the Attorney-General, John Hatzistergos, over how tough the legislation should be.
Motorcycle clubs are fighting the proposals and have instructed barristers across the country to mount legal challenges against any attempts to follow South Australia's lead and have bikie gangs proscribed as criminal groups.
In South Australia it is against the law to be a member of an illegal Biker Gang. As of today the law has not been tested in court.

Pretty well said, (ironically) Mr. Henry(NOT Peter, in this case) Fonda! Thanks for replying and answering some of the questions I posed to ya, Leno. HOWEVER(and I know YOU knew THIS was comin' here, right?! ), I'm going to suggest to you here that you have somewhat failed to make A FEW of your talking points in the above "persuasive". Once again you attempted to find a MORE than questionable correlation between an organization whose DOCUMENTED(as in this very news report from Australia once again proports) cases of intimidation and murder, WITH the N.R.A. And even though SOME of the less experineced and less informed portions of the general public MAY hold the opinion that to be a member of the N.R.A. "means that one is a Gun Nut" DOESN'T MEAN that that opinion of their's is in anyway supported by the facts which HIGHLY suggest that almost ALL members of the N.R.A. would never stoop to using the forces of intimidation and murder to advance their agenda. But, there are many more than just a few DOCUMENTED(and yes, it's those "bad ol' gov'ment types" that keep these sorts of records, doggone it to H*ll! ) incidences in which these so-called(and of course, in MY mind, correctly labeled) "Outlaw Gangs" use those means to further THEIR agenda which include a STATED policy of intimidation and physical violence. I "could be" wrong here, but even THOUGH the N.R.A. often seems to use the EMOTION of fear, as in the promotion of the fear of crime AND the fear of a "potentionally tyranical government" to further THEIR agenda, THEIR STATED POLICY is NOT to advance their agenda through the same methods as do the "Outlaw Biker" organzitions. And, the other bit of your argument which I find to be "questionable" in concept is (and I readily admit THIS ONE could be a "Lee J.Cobb mentality" of mine, but I believe after riding motorcycles for over 40 years around the streets and freeways of this megalopolis of Los Angeles that my "Lee J. Cobb-ness" has a firm foundation in reality) that...LOUD PIPES DO NOT SAVES LIVES.(seeing as how you stated that the ONE "Right" the HAs are "fighting for in our interest" is to run them on our motorcycles)...NOPE! All those obnoxious sounding exhausts DO is to P*SS OFF the general public and get THEM motivated to contact "The Man"(read: their legislator) to crack down on ANYBODY who might wish to modify THEIR motorcycle's sound to a REASONABLE, and more pleasant sounding, AND yes, slightly louder sound. WHAT KEEPS US SWINGIN' DICKS ALIVE OUT THERE WHO RIDE THESE BABIES IS EXPERIENCE AND THE CONSTANT KNOWLEDGE THAT MANY OF THE CAGERS OUT THERE ARE MORONS AND HAVE NO BUSINESS HAVING A FRIGGIN' DRIVERS LICENSE!!! (and so, Leno ol' boy, if you ever have the "pleasure" to converse with any members of your local HA chapter, would you please express to them for me that they are NOT "speaking for me" in this regard EITHER!!) Ciao for now, dude.
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Somehow this byline regarding the Sidney airport flew under the radar. The German guy must have been really pi**ed. Folks I know over there never mentioned gang problems. Of course a bunch of wheat & sugar beet farmers are always a wee bit suspect.
jh
EVERYONE knows Australia is a long way from Europe – but not many would expect their journey from Germany to Sydney to involve catching six connecting flights and take almost a week to complete. Unless you’re German tourist Tobias Gutt. After mistyping his destination on a flight booking website, the hapless 21-year-old instead ended up 13,000km away near Sidney in the freezing US state of Montana.
Dressed for a hot Sydney summer in T-shirt and shorts, Mr Gutt flew out of the small German town of Treuenbrietzen two days before Christmas.
But instead of landing in Sydney to be greeted by girlfriend Laura, he found himself half a world away.
"I froze terribly," he told German newspaper Bild.If only Mr Gutt had checked his airline ticket properly. In bold type read the letters ‘USA’.

Eeh! I ain't buyin' NONE o' this, John! NOPE!!!
MY "theory" here is because those guys were TWICE unsuccessful in their quest to do the same to France, this German dude is part of an advance force bent on the invasion and occupation of Montana!!!
And so, my advice to you guys up there is keep a sharp eye out for any U-boat activity along the Missouri River towards your eastern flank, OR any sightings of large groups of personnel hoofin' it over the Bitterroot mountain range to your west.
(good luck, and remember...our thoughts and prayers will be with you brave souls up there in "Big Sky" country!!!)

Sorry Dwight, but I'm partin' company with ya on the pipes. I've been ridin' quite some time myself, and the difference in the number of close calls and lane squeezins I have to fend off is absolutely black and white. Now, maybe Austin drivers are just more unconscious than those in LA, but I don't think so. See, I've driven in LA and Chicago and Montreal and Beijing and NYC, etc., etc., and the fact is, most drivers on this planet don't have enough IQ to steer a Radio Flyer without head trauma. I can't go two days - and I mean *two days* - in this fair town with quiet pipes without being forced oughta my lane or cut off by one of these idiots. With loud pipes, that simply doesn't happen - never, not at all, nada, nein, bu shi. So, while I think highly of your opinions on nearly everything else (and especially as regards the T-boid of the supposed future), you're simply not correct on this very important issue. If ya don't wanna die or end up in traction for a couple months, your motorcycle should sound like a motorcycle should sound.

BUT, a motorcycle should NOT sound like a friggin' HARRIER JET!!! Them babies are loud TOO, ya know...REALLY loud! BUT at LEAST those suckers don't fly over your house every ten friggin' minutes bombardin' your neighorhood with excessive decibels, like HALF the friggin' motorcycles(both Harleys AND sportbikes) seem to do as the inconsiderate morons astride 'em cruise by MY neighborhood every friggin' ten minutes or so. (this IS unless of course YOUR house is situated near a Marine Base located within in friendly confines of that Lone Star State o' yours, dude!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I find it hard to believe that these clowns would pull somethhing like this in such a public venue. Lots of witnesses, and security cameras. Morons. Gives us 99%ers a bad name.

(and ESPECIALLY went he said.....)
Gives us 99%ers a bad name.
...don't cha kind'a think that what I was saying ABOUT "loud pipes", AND what Leno said about the HAs supposedly "protecting our 'rights' to LOUD friggin' PIPES, and how those LOUD friggin' PIPES often "Gives us 99%ers a bad name" TOO to the general public, is kind'a STILL "on topic" here, dude???? I mean, don't you THINK most of us here have already ESTABLISHED the fact that most of these "Outlaw Bikers" in question here ARE "morons", just as Charlie has proposed here AGAIN????
(okay...but if ya want, we'll NOW return you folks here to the topic of anti-social behavior, but ONLY in the vein of overt VIOLENCE then...is THAT okay with ya there, erle ol' boy???)

Yep! I sure do, Charlie! And ya wanna know WHY I do???
It's because, USUALLY whenever ANY social phenomenon comes up for discussion, it usually has MANY causes and MANY side-issues to examine in order to REALLY understand it AND place it into perspective!!
Because, WHAT?! You folks just wanna sit around and say somethin' like..."Ain't it a shame that there are so many morons in the world today!", and then just leave it AT THAT???!!!
(nope...then what's the point of even bringin' up ANY issue in the Lounge other then "Happy Birthday [fill in the blank]", or "Here's a funny joke, folks" and such, if THAT'S all ya want to do???)

I gotta meet this "Dwight" character someday, he is very entertaining...but to topic...I suppose there are a lot of EXTREMELY different angels (angels) to whether or not "outlaw" groups have any value in our society. Socially speaking, it's been my experience that some of these fellas are ordinary "family" guys, most of the time. One of the things that I like about hardcore bikers is that they don't bulshoot around, they are who they are and they'll tell it like they see it. HOWEVER, once you place an afore mentioned fella in a GROUP, his personallity changes, with violent mob rule mentality replacing reason, and you simply have a different animal. One's experience with one of the "outlaw" fellas is therefore largely determined by the settting and company you find him in. To compare, when I rode with a like minded, Triumph lovin group in the ARK ralley last year, individual behaviour did not change with the setting of the group. They were good fella's irregardless of whether you encountered them by themself or found the larger group at the local watering hole, sucking down big plates of good food.

Dwight, Dwight, Dwight; see the wisdom in simply agreeing to disagree? Quote:
what Leno said about the HAs supposedly "protecting our 'rights' to LOUD friggin' PIPES...
What kind of thinking could allow my statement that the AMA laid down on the issue of loud pipes (among other custom bike issues) to magically morph into what you have erroneously attributed to me in the above quote? Let's make one thing clear here; loud pipes are after market pipes. And for every piece of proposed legislation seeking to control motorcycle noise based upon decibel levels there is another proposed that seeks to control motorcycle noise by severely limiting/banning aftermarket pipes. All aftermarket pipes. That means your favorite performance enhancing pipes as well. Without any voice advocating motorcyclists we are left at the mercy of reactionary politicians... and the motorcycle manufacturers. Quick, what motorcycle company is going to advocate aftermarket pipes which will generate no profits for them? Thankfully there are other groups such as ABATE and MMAs that will oppose such legislation on behalf of all motorcyclists. You'll just have to get used to the idea that they were founded by, and feature as a large portion of their memberships, those who you personally dislike due to their associations. Like it or not, they advocate for all motorcyclists, including you.
Consider also that no matter how quiet your pipes may be, someone somewhere thinks they are too loud and that you are just another inconsiderate scumbag on a bike. By the way Dwight, your ox has a vulnerable flank here... Legal or no, by splitting lanes a rider can reinforce the image of inconsiderate bikers who think that the rules do not apply to them. Especially when so passing a frustrated motorist stuck in traffic who then proceeds to paint all motorcyclists in a bad light to anyone who will listen. That includes the 99% of us who do not practice lane splitting. Even having said that Dwight old buddy, I would still advocate for you and oppose those who sought to stop you from splitting lanes.
