Stopped by this morning..I spent two hours there. Meatball, Earl, Rd Roth, Dave Mann..Cindy knew/knows them all. What a great source of information. She told stories that you could NEVER read in any book or mag. This is hard core old school motorcycling. She would love to have BA.Com members show up. It would make her day. As well as the folks who showed up. I have never met anybody like her. I'm going to the trailblazers meet next month. Wanna go?

Yep, Doug. I go see Cindy every couple months or so. Yep! Now THAT'S one sweet lady with REAL motorcycling in her blood alright!
Sure! The trailbrazers meet sounds good!
(BTW...did she show ya the love letters from Von Dutch she keeps in her Coca Cola machine?)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

For the uninitiated out there about Century Motorcycles of San Pedro CA, and that's probably almost all of ya, here's their website. It's what used to be known as a motorcycle shop before the advent of M/C "Superstores" and H-D "boutiques" became the norm. http://www.centurymotorcycles.net/In 1971 I purchased a brand spankin' new BSA RocketIII from Cindy Rutherford's dad, who is presently "resting" inside a small specially-built Vincent gas tank sitting up on the wall at the shop. (he's in small granulated form, you understand)

von Dutch..I forgot. she spoke of him the most. And yes..the vincent gas tank is hanging on the wall. I think she mentioned that the rest of the bike is at home in her bedroom. Have you seen the motorized baby carriage she tools around in at old school bike meets?

I sent an email to Ken at Biker Radio Magazine suggesting he get in touch with Cindy. Sounds like it could be a killer interview!

I used to walk down to Century when I was a kid (I grew up in San Pedro). That place is real cool and everyone is always friendly but that shop has had its ups and downs over the years.
I did some work for a guy once and he traded me a Honda C50. I took it to Century to get cleaned and tuned so I could ride it. I used to roll around with my Bieffe and my Honda.

Hey guys, I just got this note from Ken at BRM: Quote:
I did get in touch with Cindy Rutherford... interesting person. [...] She's a cool lady and knows the weak spots of men which has served her well. I think I could be her friend if I lived in that area. I know I would seek her out for coffee once in a while for sure.
I spent :30 minutes with Cindy and will run more in coming weeks. Once I explained to her son what I was doing, he was excited about BRM and she called back while I was doing another interview.
If you're listening to the show and like it, drop him a line and let him know. Or heck, give him your own ideas for the show. We could probably have him talk to some of the more colorful members of this forum, especially the geezers. LOL ken@bikerradiomagazine.com
