Say,
Does anyone know how many of each model motorbike Triumph has sold over the last year or few?
I'm curious as to which models sell the most and which the fewest, for no other reason than I'm just curious!

I'm betting bonneville the most, rocket 3 the fewest. No idea though, just a guess.

For what it is worth... I was recently told that the America is the best selling Triumph at Sindt Motors in Dubuque, Iowa.

They seem to be very secret about the numbers of what and where it sells at Triumph. Strange folks in that respect.

The line from Triumph is "we sell all we make of each model every year". However, the dealers I've talked too will tell you that the Classic series, America and Speedmasters are the bread and butter. The Speed Triple and Daytona 675 are close behind. Rockets, Sprints and Tigers are a little harder to sell cause they appeal to a narrower market.

Ryan, 30% of the model year is gone already. Are you considering that to be a lot of bikes? I assume you are talking about Rossmeyer.

From what I have been told by a couple different dealers, they are having the toughest time selling the Scrambler.

5 Americas by bike week. Yes, for this dealership, lost in Harley world, I do consider that to be a success. I think the next best seller for them is the 675 but am not certain.

I would hazard a guess from the quantity of bikes in the local showroom and speaking to the store manager that currently the street triple appears to be selling like hotcakes and theres about a 3 month waiting list for them.
I would consider the scrambler to be the slowest selling - when was the last time you saw a scrambler on the road?
Before the war on terror, if I saw an unattended package I used to think "I'll be having that!"

Well Graham, I just saw one a couple days ago(and talked to its owner) while sippin' some Java at a Starbucks in Manhattan Beach. But, I think you're right. I think the Scrambler probably isn't one of Triumph's biggest seller out there, though I wouldn't mind havin' one.
And regarding this thread, I'd say without seeing any official sales charts from Triumph, it would be pretty hard, if not impossible, to figure out what their best sellers are by just having the folks state here what sells the best at their local dealership, due to the propensity of the riders of each and every locality throughout the world to have their different tastes in and different needs from a motorcycle.
In other words, I'll bet("PERCENTAGE-wise" as compared to the rest of their model lines, anyway) Triumph's "Cruiser" model line sell far higher in number here in The States than it does in the U.K. or anyplace place on the planet, due to americans seeming preference for that genre of motorcycle. But I'll bet the Tigers sell in much higher number(once again "percentage-wise") across The Pond.
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I believe what Dwight is trying to say here, is if anyone can come up with bonafide Sales records from Triumph Inc., he'll personally send them a cashiers check in the amount of $50.
That, or I misinterpreted the definition of propensity??

Now that you mention it, I've never seen one on the road.

At Indy Triumph the sales guys tell me that the classic lines sell the best(All the bonnies, thruxtons, scramblers, ect.) But also the Daytonas and Speed Triples don't last long in the show room floor. When they got their first Bonneville SE in it was gone that afternoon. That bike is going to be one of those if you see one you better jump on it fast!

In the link to the article in the MCN that was posted, it said the speed triple was the best selling triumph with 38,000 bikes sold. I suspest the 675 will be catching it up now as it gets great reviews and wins every comparison test its in at the moment. I'm guessing but the sport bikes will all out sell the retro/cruisers everywhere except maybe the USA.

There's a brand new 675 in the bike park at work. It replaces a 04 plated 675. Along with a Tiger, and a couple of other plastic Triumphs.... but still only my America from the classic/cruiser ranges.

03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel...
06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel...
09 America - It's very blue....
