I am thinking about making a fender rack out of a pillion pad I have sitting around and was wondering if this has been done before. Does anyone know what it looks like under the cover/foam? I don't want to pull off the pad just to find that it would be too difficult or ugly. I was thinking of cutting the base to make it slimmer and then adding some sheet metal over the top. Any comments or suggestions?

You're the trail-blazer as far as I know, Bubba, since most people get the Triumph or Harley fender rack. Let us know what you find out. But if you screw it up usually there are plenty of stock pillions on ebay.

Try it, Like FJ said, plenty of spares out there. You could probably find someone here to give you one they have lying around.

If you do it, post pictures and a how-to. I've been thinking about something like this too.

I think I may give it a try. If I do it and it works out, I will post pictures. I was thinking of incorporating the rider backrest that BonnyUSA posted in the "how to's" with it.
