Anyone had to remove a fuel tank from an EFI BA? Or know where to get that info here? Also, I have yet to see an available copy of the shop manual that covers '09 models and EFI. Anyone else?

I posted it up a while back on how to remove the tank from an EFI... 1. Seats need to be took off 2. Remove bolt from rear of tank 3. Remove centre console 4. You need to lift tank up, (while someone else undoes the fuel pipe and electrics 5. The fuel pipe has a plastic cover which slides to one side, you then need to squeeze the connection together to release it. 6. Undo petrol pipe from underneath the tank not from the carbs, also have a rag covering the engine side..
Pic showing fuel pipe, but do not forget about the 12v power lead Any other info you require from the shop manual for an EFI..

Thanks Ray. Does the tank need to be empty, or is there a check valve within the tank side fitting? The front of the tank just rests on some resiliant bushings, no? FWIW, the bike is fine, I'm just getting info in case I have to move the throttle cables to the other side of the frame to get extra length while adding some new risers. Plus I would still like to get a copy of the 2009 edition of the BA shop manual...

I would not fill the tank prior to removal as it is heavy to hold while somebody is fumbling underneath trying to undo that petrol connection. The manual is not much different from the old except for the EFI bit..

Did you find out if the fuel tank has a check valve? What stops the fuel p1ssing out of the tank once the hose is disconnected?

No fuel can pass through the fuel pump which is located inside the tank when it is powered off. There will be a small amount of fuel in the hose, so have a cloth handy. Removing the tank is a two man job if it is your first time, when you get use to it you can do it yourself. Good luck.

Where did they put the CDI? It looks a lot cleaner under the tank without all those wires.
