a set of 4" up and 1.5" back HD type with a single cap and adaptor studs(thanks Ian). While I'm waiting, just eyeballing the stock bars it looks like the cables and hoses will be ok, but the wire looms look tight-real tight. I'd like to snake the looms inside the bars like in the Tech section layout, but not just yet. Has anybody rerouted the looms behind the upper triclamp? Or any other ideas? Tips?

When I first put my risers on all I did was change the cables from SM to BA since they were slightly longer, that included the front break line too. I rerouted the throttle cables to the right side of the frame. The wiring reached fine as it was. I did run the wire inside the bars shortly after though.

The cables on the speedy are the same length as the America, you need to undo the headlight and release the extra cable inside which is clipped up at the back of the headlight..
I had to do this when fitting the America bars on the speedy, I replaced clutch cable, throttle cables and brake line..
Forgot to mention I put the Rivco risers on for the America also..

Sounds like the ones I got. Are you running an America or Speedmaster? I picked up a set of Speedmaster bars so my America cables should reach just fine.

If that is the case then they must have changed them, they had different part numbers when I did mine. I also held them up to each other and the SM cables were shorter, same with the front break line.

Ian, I think Ray is talking about the electrical cables (wires) that go to the controls.

What bike do you have, and what risers did you get?

I have an '09 BA, stock bars, and bought generic HD style pullback 4" riser kit, chromed machined steel, single smooth cap with bolts and caps from Americanclassicmotors on eBay. 1/2-13 to 10mm adaptor studs from Scootworks. With a little slack in the headlight shell I might skate by....
Free shipping, $55.99 for the whole magilla, adaptors @ $18.00 a pair, hardened steel.

You should be fine , I have similar risers with BA bars on my SM and I used BA cables and break line. I reread that Charlie, my mistake, I read cables as cables not as wires, oops! sorry Ray.

I want pictures on the bike, man. I've seen the risers by themselves. Clay

When they arrive and I put 'em on, I'll put up some pix. They will look a lot like Dog's red bike risers. I'm in Sayreville, NJ, on Raritan bay, where I race my 30' sloop Firefly. BUT, my cousin Lee (Bubba of the South) lives in the hills of West Jefferson NC with his kin. He is a transplanted HD hardcore from Calif., but I like um anyway. He builds dirt track stock cars for fun.

Thanks for the help Ian. I'm going for a ride later today, but they seem to make the seating angle better and relax your arms. High quality parts, everything fit, the stock BA cables and wires were ok (thanks birchr for the tip on extra wire in the headlight). I did loctite the 1/2-13 studs into the riserbody and reused that trick locknut on the 10 mm side torqued to 50 ft/lbs. The whole magilla only took about two hours in 38 degree sunshine. I like how they blend in so smoothly with the headstock, not so 'clampy' like the originals were. PMing you Ian on the photo tech.
Howzat, Clay? Pix galore.

Cool. Thanks for posting pictures. I haven't test-fit mine yet and I was wondering if they'd clear the dash.

John, I have had those same risers on my bike for a couple years now and pictures have been posted many times. Not very observant for a Mod! Maybe I should try and sneak in some nudie pictures!

Contrary to what you might think, I don't pay attention to everything you post (I don't need the rise in blood pressure). I was vaguely aware you had after market risers but I didn't remember or care if they were the same dimensions as the ones I got. And this thread isn't about you, is it?

Lame excuse and attempt to put it back on me. The shots of my bike have been in so many threads from different angles you couldn't possibly have missed it. Beside as you pointed out to me in a different thread I used enough smileys I was just pulling your leg.

I have a question about all of this - with a single capped riser set, does the distance between the risers pose any issue. I don't see anything about stem spacing on any listings for those type risers Cheers

Our bikes share the same distance between the risers as HD so the single cap risers you are seeing are for HD and fit our bikes except for the stud diameter. We also have 1" bars like HD so no issue there either. The single cap risers like pictured above or on my bike also have individual caps available for them.

Hey guys, I just did this mod and I love the new riding position, my back doesn't hurt as much anymore, and it is easier to turn imho.
I just have a little problem, I have a small leak on the master cylinder. Only happens at speed when the wind blows it from the front and the little drop makes its way to the back. At first I thought nothing of it but it happened again this morning so it is definitely a leak. When I installed the risers I let go of the handlebar by mistake so the master cylinder was upside down for a moment. I haven't tried to see if the lid is loose since I'm at work and the lines look intact; does this mean that I need to bleed it now?

Yes , you have a leak . Probably just refit the gasket and cap it . May be the banjo bolt's loose . Does it leak under pressure ? Or is it just an ooze ? Yes , you may wanna bleed it , too easy , lots of info in "search" for that . Just remember the mysterious lingering bubble on top of the front caliper . The M/C needs to be as level as possible . DON'T let the brake fluid get on yer paint . Ick.

If you do refit the gasket make certain it (the gasket) and the mating surfaces are absolutely dry and clean or you'll be refitting it again when it leaks, again. And do wipe up those drips asap or you'll lose some paint.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. Herm Albright (1876 - 1944)

well, this morning I took the lid off, cleaned everything and re-assembled. Still happening. I positioned the handle bar so the MC would be as leveled as possible, now I'm thinking that maybe its overfilled... I have never touched it before but what else could it be? my wife said I over tighten it, but I'm not so sure, I didn't over do it or force it or anything like that... will try again tonight, perhaps I missed something.
