They say your helmet costs what you think your head is worth. Well my head ain't worth $1125. http://www.uncrate.com/men/gear/misc-gadgets/arai-gp5-racing-helmet/Holy crap. You'd just about have to be Brad Pitt (see picture in link) to afford one. And he probably got it for free in a bag of swag. My head is still worth about what my HJC CL-MAX XXXL modular cost: $180.

I bet after they got a picture of him with one they raised the price by 300 bucks.  I myself only have a 50 dollar head.

Uh huh, yeah John, MAYBE 180 bucks...BUT I hope you know that when you have a head cold it's snot worth nearly that much! Then, I wouldn't give ya two cents for that big ol' noggin o' yours, dude!  
(and BTW...that ad does call it a "racing" helmet, and even though that price seems and probably IS exorbitant, I'll bet if you high-sided a RACEbike at 140MPH at say Laguna Seca, that might seem a reasonable investment to you during the time you're flyin' over the handlebars)

I don't really have much to compare it to. It's the only modular big enough for my noggin. My last, and only other helmet, was the HJC CL-12 3XL fullface. I definitely like the modular better. It does fog up really easy. I haven't monkeyed with too many different techniques or products for dealing with that. But overall I don't have any big complaints.

I have a real good friend that has one of those...he races SCCA. Its like looking through a slit in a peice of paper...and from what he tells me your peripheral vision is nothing like a regular MC helmet. I have about a $500 head. I guess mine is by weight and not precious value.

That's a version of what they call a "Superhelmet".
They talked about it in the "Blowing the Lid Off" article in
Motorcyclist. It's for car racing. The shell comes down a little
too far for bike use.
They need a special helmet in Formula One, for instance, in
case of a crash where a wheel or suspension piece may fly off
and hit the top of a driver's head, so the shell is a lot
harder than normal.
