Looks nice.
You know, if it WAS only $150 or even $75 of materials, so what? You sell it for what the market will bear. Who else offers one like it? No one? So sell it for more. Plus, time to think it up, to develop it, and produce a complete finished product are all part of the deal. Sell it for what you can get, thats cool. And, again, it looks nice, quite nice.

(Responses) Joe: remaining mods include - chopping off half that rear fender, and mounting a 50s style sparto. Swapping out the stock handlebars for Sellman's highlanders. And, finally powder coating my rims red.
Tom: I'll give you a report once I have my first ride. I am only putting a 140 LBS in that saddle... so my results may not be the best barometer.
Todd: I honestly feel I got what I paid for. It's crazy how thick, and solid the pieces are. Thank you for the comments.

I wonder what the rims would look like if the bead/edge was still silver/chrome and the rest of the rim was red.

It does take a fair amount of time to develop stuff. Sure you can do it yourself for free. If you consider your time being worth nothing. I'v always found that working up something takes alot more time than you expect it to. I generally get 50 bucks an hour at work. So. It wouldn't take very long to surpass the price that mikes asking. It's alot easier to let someone else do all the fitting, even if maybe not as gratifying as doing it yourself.

When it comes to tools, I am a complete muppet. The gratification came from installing this well made mount, without breaking stuff.

I can do very basic fabrication, but it's not going to be the best possible, and it's not going to look good. On my old beemer, I didn't mind fitting my own stuff because that's an ugly bike. If I put my own stuff on the Triumph, it'd ruin the look of the bike, so I'm happy to pay the freight for other people's work.

I like the look of the seat. Good one. Any plans for the area immediately under the seat?
Does anyone make (or have pics of) a clean looking cover/plate that goes between the seat and airbox?

Thanks Mike for the shout-out. Yeah, the black piping was the way to go.
And yes, I did ask Mike not to post detail photos of the mounting kit. It is a proprietary design and quite frankly, I am worried about some other vendor copying my design.
For you DIY'ers, I don't understand why you give a rat's ****** what I sell the kit for. If you think I'm selling $50 worth of mounting hardware with this kit, I would ask Mike if he thinks he got only $50 worth. The mounting plates and hinge are custom-made parts, not some Chinese-made stamped tin bits commonly used in the V-twin world. The barrel springs, leather washers, R-clips and chrome bolts are the only off-the-shelf parts used. And $150 will only get you a plain black vinyl seat from Le Pera with the afore mentioned Chinese hinge... not the diamond stitched Metalflake upholstery as shown.
/Mike
Well said you get what you pay for .... We have all seen the home made gear , some is nice but for the most part ho hum nothing special
That's one sweet Ride there Mikey G , soon as the cash is flowing again I'll be getting one of those seats ...LOL and I think the price is right even with the exhange and duty ...
