Hi All I've currently got a Dart flyscreen fitted to my America. Very good it is too however I'm looking for a bit more protection for my tour to Switzerland later this year. To that end I've bought a Triumph Summer screen. What are others'experiences of these? I'm 6'00" and I don't want something too sail-like on the front. Thanks,
Lee

IMO, the summer screen is the worst one Triumph makes. The buffeting is horrible, you may as well have no screen at all. It looks pretty good, but function is crap.
Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

Haven't used the Summer screen, but I've tried the Roadster and now a larger Clearview. Both have issues, either with eye-level turbulence or severe updrafting. If you encounter either of these effects with the Summer screen, you'll want to consider adding lowers.

Blimey! At least I bought it from E-Bay for a lot less than new from the local dealer so if I don't get along with it then I can simply place it back on there. I'll let others know how I get on once I've had chance to fit it in a week or so's time.

I have the Windvest and it looks great and the protection is pretty good. I'm 6'1" and I do have some buffeting at the head.

The lowers are a must with the summer screen. Otherwise the buffeting is unbearable.

I'm also 6'0" and bought the Summer Screen. It looked great but the buffeted wind coming off the top hit me right in the face. It was almost unbearable on the highway. No noticeable wind/sail issues. If you've already bought the Summer Screen. I would immediately order a Clearview Shield Summer Screen replacement 17". Make sure you order the smallest 17" tall Summer Screen replacement. It actually looks better than the Triumph SS and better quality. Get the light grey tint (similar to stock SS). Here's a link. The bike in the picture is mine. http://www.clearviewshields.com/shop/product.php?id=61

Hi mate - Gosport's about as warm as here in Norfolk. My America came with the summer screen fitted, and since taking it off, the bike's nicer to ride. The wind is deflected straight into my face with the screen on. However, it works of you're caught in the rain!

Ride with the screen, and then put your feet up near the forks where the lowers go. It should make a big difference for you and you'll getn the idea of how they work.

I bought the summer screen off ebay and use it only at the start of and at the end of riding season. It works well keeping the insects off of your face.I agree that the buffeting it causes is a pain because it hits me right in the eyes. I tried using goggles and that helps some. With a full face helmet I don't notice the buffeting.

I'm 5'9" and use a face shield(because I wear a helmet) so wind is not a problem any way. I have not run accross another shield that I like the looks of and the summer shield is a lot better than nothing at all(which realy sucks). When it comes to wind shields it seams that for many form and function can be hard to find.

Not exactly a summer screen but a winter screen combined with the lowers it is fantastic, no buffeting at all.
