Why?

Jan 2 2009 73 year old man pulled into right of way. My Speedie died at the scene and I came as close to that as I care to come. He got a ticket and I gotta lotta broken bones.

I survived hitting his right rear quarter panel with a completely crushed pelvis, badly broken right leg (multiple)just above the ankle, Two vertebrae in my neck were busted and I sit in brace awaiting those to heal. My right scapula was also busted and the tendons running along the top of my right hand were also torn and were surgically repaired. My right cheekbone had a minor fracture....and the degree of roadrash I took were minimal.

I will be two months laid up in week with an outlook of another four to six weeks before I can go home.

I will be looking hard at T Bird later this year. I dont know how much settlement dollars to expect but my lawyer seems confident.

Trust me. You dont want to be there when a cager turns in front of you with just a nano second of notice. It aint even enough time for your life to flash in front.

Kev, I've also been wondering where you've been. On MC forums, missing members is often bad news. Here's wishing you a full & speedy recovery. All the best to you, and I hope your lawyer does a good job for you.

I don't know if I talked about it on this forum but in November 2007 we had a left-turning driver end our day. It happened in a couple of seconds. My wife & I hit the right rear side panel of the car and we were thrown airborn. My wife's clavicle was shattered & her hand broken. My only injury was a dangerously bruised hip. Our 06 Kingpin was totalled. The woman claimed she never saw us.

Guys, PLEASE ride safe, and ATGATT.

Kevin, get better soon brother.

I'm glad to read that you're still alive. Hope you get back to riding real soon and that all your injuries heal completely.

Sorry to hear about your ordeal, news like that really upsets me. I don't get people sometimes, "I didn't see you" is NO excuse! Pay ****** attention! I can't believe they only got a ticket! Wouldn't surprise me if they were on th phone. Glad to hear you're on the mend. Good luck with everything.

Wow. Disagreements aside no one deserves to go through that. Heal up soon.

Well I ride and I HAVE cut bikers off in my car. I do pay attention, and accidents do happen.

Kevin I wish you all the best and send pics of the T-BIRD!

Dang, at least you weren't "totalled" Kevin. But from the list of broken parts-yikes!! Hope your recovery is proceeding.

Slightly OT; The "out to get you" radar goes up and the speed down a notch or three when I'm carrying a passenger.

Sorry to hear about this, Kevin. Heal up quickly, and in the meantime start thinkin' about what color T-Bird you're gonna get.

Personally I think the blue one with the white stripes is the best lookin' one I've seen.

(...but then again, knowin' as how you and I seldomly agree about a lot o' stuff, I'll be expectin' you to buy a black one, dude!)

Well Stew, you see it's like this: Somehow, the more I look at pictures of that blue and white paint scheme on those babies, the more it seems to focus my attention away from THAT obvious design "flaw".

Best wishes for a complete recovery and massive settlement Kevin. On the bright side (such as it is) you should be up and around when the T-Birds begin flying.

Do the right, (or least wrong at any rate), thing - hold out for the Baseline.

The scapula break seems not to bother me much. But I do not have range of movement there at all. I am 24/7 flat on my back with fixator pins still installed to hold the pelvis in place while the bones knit and adhere to the metal plates, (I will trip metal detectors in airports) LOL

THE kneck brace on the other hand drives me stir crazy

Oh my gosh, Kevin. I'm sorry to hear that. I hope all the best for you for a speedy recovery. Makes me think there should be mandatory DL testing every year after the age of 65 (I'm 57 so I'm not bashing seniors). I hope the man's insurance co. has to pay thorugh the nose. I am also glad it hasn't broken your spirit and you will be back on two wheels.

All past disagreements aside Kevin. We're all riders and I hate to hear about that.

And as one gym rat to another, I'm sure that your exceptional physical condition will aid your recovery, just listen to the PT and don't overdo it or try to work too hard too soon.
