Now that it looks like winter may finally end, I've decided to replace my chain and sprockets. I reread the information that was posted last summer and will go with the package from fast eddys, using a 18 tooth front sprocket. As I don't have a chain tool, am thinking of using the clip style master link they sell. Do I need to take a link off the chain anyway, or does the larger sprocket compensate for the longer chain?

Also, has anyone had any luck using a 1 7/16 socket rather than a 36mm one when taking off the sprocket?

Thanks,

Ted

When I switched my America to an 18t front sprocket, the stock length chain fit just fine.
Don't know what the extra link will do to the adjustment.

I also used the 1 7/16 socket for the sprocket nut.

YOU NEED ONLY 112 LINKS. CUT OFF THE EXTRAS,BUT COUNT CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU CUT!
