You really don't have to change the gasket. I've reused mine at least 4 times now with no leaks. It is a silicone based gasket designed to be reused. Get the replacement and keep it as a spare because if you do tinker, you will need it some day.

The book says to replace the seals under the cam cover bolts, but I've re-used those several times with no leaks.

No need to change the gasket had mine off and Wendy's too. Put a chrome one on Wendy's, neither one leaks.

I mentioned before about an oil leak and thought it may have been the oil pressure warning switch - now i've noticed that the oil is probably coming from the cam cover gasket.
Is this a common problem? I must admit its not vast amounts of oil but something i think i need to rectify.

its not.... maybe you should check mounting bolts

Not a thing around mounting bolts.
It wasn't too bad today just a thin film of oil south of the gasket.
And checking the oil warm and cold it was near the max level but certainly not over it.
Hence why I'm questioning the gasket.

I think he meant to check to make sure the mounting bolts are tight.
