Well it's officially the beginning of Tornadoes season in OK. They had one or two drop down in Edmond, just north of OKC, earlier this evening. Luckily no serious damage. I saw a couple of bikes on the road, trying to beat the storm home around 5. ZOOM... Zoom... zoom.

Saw that on the weather channel before I went to work this afternoon. Tornadoes scare the living crap outta me for some reason. I only ever saw one clearly, during daylight, and that was in Texas many years ago. It was blood red from the dust it had sucked up.....

I couldn't imagine being on a bike when one of those things dropped.

Saw a few on my way to Yellowstone. Even from a distance they scare me, just the awesome uncontrollable power. I was at a friends house when one hit the town he lived in, it is amazing how there is almost a clear line showing the edge of it's path. Where it went through the buildings anyway. We heard it but never saw it, I was a little kid at the time with my parents.

We get them in Pa too, usually F1 or F2's. On tv they always show them crossing some plain somewhere or tearing up some town but you should see what they do to the trees around here. Looks like God's lawnmower went through.....

I was in OKC one time when Tornados when through. The TV stations showed a tornado going right over us in about 15 minutes. I grabbed my grandson and took off in the pickup. We headed to the South end of OKC. The house was spared. What amazed me was the number of tornoado chasers out on the Interstates following tornados. What a different world.

Few of the houses I saw had basements or any tornado protection. I swore if I built a house in OKC I would at least put a Lube Pit in the Garage for Tornado Protection, a bathtub does not seem comforting.

Well Bob, just to be on the safe side, I say you'd better to sure to bring your ruby slippers with ya. That way if the absolute worst happens, you'll be able to get back to Kansa....errr...Washington State by utilizing that simple one-two-three heel-clicking method with 'em!

(and BTW Paul...ain't it a bit early in the year for "Tornado Season" back there?...I thought that was more a springtime phenomenon?!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I know we do, 2 went through here a couple years ago and wiped out Lake Carry and Promised Land. I went to see and you couldn't even tell where the houses had been around the lake except for some insulation here and there the rest was rubble and no trees left standing. Can also see where one went across 402 in the state lands. Looks like a giant lawnmower came up to the road on one side then continued through the woods on the other. No trees left standing in a path over 100' wide, maybe wider I'm guessing distance. Never saw one in person in PA though but did in the midwest during my trip.

Tornadoes scare the doodoo out of me. We had the possibility of tornadoes in the area today, all the schools closed at 1.30 and everyone was sent home. Luckily it was a false alarm. But personally, i rather go home for a false alarm then have the real thing come through.

Yeah, we have fun out here in central California too. Bob, (habuba - my hubby) took this picture while working. He said it was kind of spooky watching the clouds swirling around. Here is the news page link with the picture: Funnel cloud spotted .

Tronados are no problem, just stay far away from trailer parks.
