Story from Yesterday's Sydney Daily Telegraph. "Rocketing motorcycle sales could lead to increased rates in prostate cancer, according to a new book. Canadian author, Randall Dale Chipkar, who has a background in biology and electronics, has warned that low-level electromagnetic fields in bike seats could cause several types of cancer. In his book "Motorcycle Cancer? Are Motorcycles Killing Us With Cancers Of The Prostate, Colon, Kidney, Bone, Etc?" Chipkar claims to have discovered 500 milliGauss of extremely low frequency electromagnetic field radiation passing through the seats of motorcycles and scooters, penetrating the rider's groin. "In contrast many doctors raise cancer concerns involving 3 to 5 millGauss of ELF EMF exposure from power lines and other sources." he says. "A motorcycle is the only place on earth where our vital organs are so close to possible electromagnetic radiation." Chipkar is now campaigning for the industry to make motorcycle seats safer and is selling a patented EMF shield designed to be fitted inside a motorcycle seat. While warning of cancer dangers to bikers, Chipkar claims they are not at risk of impotence. "Bicycling or hard scooter seats on rough roads are more rigorous on the groin than modern day cruising seats." He says. "Not to mention rubber mounted engines, sophisticated suspensions, smooth asphalt and contoured padded seats. Subtle groin vibrations increase blood flow and are actually stimulating not debilitating on our tissues. Regular motorcycle seat vibration is not going to damage penile nerves."" Sorry Dwight, it took me long enough to enter this I didn't have time to translate it into "Yankee"

Well that makes me feel better. I'm going to get cancer but at least I won't be impotent.

So then, the Lucas electrics on the old Brit bikes may have saved lives?

I wonder if the real key here is that he is selling a shield that is patented so he gets all the money from the fear.
I thought EMS was debunked years ago. I am probably mistaken.
A police motor cop could file a worker comp claim if he got cancer. Oh! the manufactures that failed to put the shields in would be liable.

I bet you are 100% right on. There is a lot of money to be made in fear and paranoia.

Think we've been here before. I'm very sceptical, the research is extremely gray IMO but I seem to remember we actually granted him his patent? Maybe coz no one else will... About sums it up at the moment, if you've run out of options come to Britain!

I wonder if they also sell the foil hats that keep the aliens from controlling your thoughts?

Hey, Roswell isn't the only place. Several years ago when I worked in DC for the summer as I was riding the escalator up toward the Courthouse Square station a young lady started a conversation with me (Are you a lawyer?) and then proceeded to tell me "They have been attacking me for over a year now!" Of course I asked who they were and what were they doing (long boring ride up that escalator). She pulled back her jacket and blouse and showed me a tin foil covering over her left breast and said "Here is where they are attacking me and it hurts!" When I just raised my eyebrow in response she told me "they" were aliens and she needed a lawyer to sue them. When we got to the top I made sure she started in one direction so I could hurry in the other. One of several stories from that summer that kind of haunt me to this day!

Dwight: They are still sucking in in. Ya cant find anything resembling a M 16 anywhere. Primers, powded and cartridge cases are scare and expensive. Ammo is scare and even .22's are hard to find. People are buying into the Obama scare dealie and the gun sellers and ammo guys are cleaning up > My local dealer cannot keep any handguns in stock. Forget about a Taurus Judge. Everybody want one of those. I just ordered 32 lbs of powder in 8 lb just and over 60zk primers via internet for my M-1 Garand. This is the rifle which travlels with me one my bike in a scabboard and a .45 ACP on my belt. Very few motorists mess with me on the road because they see that I am pacing some serious firepower and as Robert Heinlein said "An armed society is a polite society".

I am leaning toward black powder myself. In a pinch, I can make my own ammo from charcoal, sulfur, saltpeter and old car batteries.
