I wanted a cetic band tatoo on my arm but was to chicken to get it done. Instead I asked a jewler mate of mine to make me one and I found a design I liked and he made it in silver. Now i can take it off when I like, something you cant do with a tat (obviously) Here is a couple of pics

this one has been there a while and could probably use a touch up. I had never tried it before, but it is really hard to take a picture of your own arm!

I have Triumph and an attacking eagle on one arm, a roosting eagle and HD bar and shield on the other. On my upper back, there is a wolf head that looks very much like my newest dog. On my forearm is a rendition of one of my favorite Gaelic folklore characters Scathach. She ran a martial arts school on the isle of Skye. The entrance exam was to arrive at the gates of the school alive.

For those of you who have tattoos, how do you keep your tats from becoming a ink splotch as the years go by? Has the art of tattooing and the ink used improved to point that the art work last? Unlike the green splotches seen on WWII vets.
Didn't buy into the hype, you can keep the change.

The ink they use has improved a lot, they also don’t put the ink as far under you skin.(I have a friend who is a tattooist). Also if you have a tattoo that is exposed to the sun use an SPF 30 or above on it. The UV from the sun causes it to fade. All Tattoos fade eventually but you can slow the process down.

Tattoos will spread somewhat. However, if the artist knows what they are doing the spread will be minimal. The ones that become ink splotch were done too deep. They put the ink so deep into the skin layers it spreads. If the artist is good, it will hurt little, not bleed, heal well and not spread after years. I have twelve. Mostly celtic knotwork that I drew myself. I have two with names. My son and my grandson. I have two that are words. One is in Cherokee the other is in ancient Etruscan. (which pre dates latin) My tattoo artist is one of the legendary artists in the field. And a really cool guy. Mike Skiver from Personal Art Studio. Goes to Laconia every year, maybe some have seen him.

I am in the process of refining a crazy/happy dragon riding a BA at speed. I designed it myself and when I get a chance I will sit down with an artist to finalise the picture. I have been designing it for a long while until I got it right. I just have to find the time to sit down and do it.

I would like to see that when it's done.

I just went and got a 'M' tattooed on each cheek. When I bend over, it says "M O M". When I stand on my head, it says "W O W" !

coming from someone who is deeply involved in the "tatoo culture," I say "NO WAY." It may look good on a jacket, but on your body it will look like it belongs on a jacket. Trust me.

My wife who wants her 2 dime size tattoos removed says have someone draw it on you and keep it for a couple of weeks. If you still want it after that then get it.

When I see what's left after a tatoo is removed, I'm glad I decided against it when I was 20.

Thats why it is said to make sure of what you want before you get it, and make sure. I have 2, and plan on another one someday. Took me over 30 years to figure out if I wanted one and where. Dont plan on ever having them removed, I figure if you got it, then keep it.

a few thoughts...
I like the example of the Triumph tat - very cool
Yes they are permanent and from what I hear laser removal is painful AND expensive so be sure you want it but...If you DO really want one then GO FOR IT! I've got 4 now and as soon as one is done I can't wait to get another, it's that cash flow problem that keeps me waiting. (BTW, I didn't get my first one till I was 30 and waited another 10 years for the next cause the first one almost got me divorced. Now 3 years post divorce I have 2 more and counting)
The biggest mistake most people make with their first tattoo is not making it big enough. With a logo like that you should make sure it's big enough to show the details and keep them over the years.
Really do your due diligence when you pick an artist, if their work doesn't make you say WOW keep looking.
Ciao!

A long time ago, one of the original members here had the 100 yr logo done (he worked at a NJ airport). I always thought that was a great (and underused by Triumph) logo and made a great tattoo. But, I've had my one and only tattoo completed...

I would never get a logo tattoo of any kind... just like people names... I have a shark on mi right shoulder and I'm planning on getting an octopus on my left shoulder with the tentacles wrapping my arm down to the elbow. Mari has 2, a fish on her ankle and a phoenix on her shoulder that she designed herself. click to see the phoenix

That's very cool, I like tats with color that really pops like that. Nice design.

And ahh so...let me guess here Angel.
You and your wife are both Pisces AND your favorite song is a little ditty about a certain multi-armed undersea invertebrate's "garden", sung by the incomparable Ringo Starr! Am I RIGHT here???!!!
(and if I'm wrong about that second part, then my OTHER guess is that it's "Yellow Submarine" that REALLY "floats your boat", so to speak!!!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I am not much into TATS, but ones that have color are cool. Design one that uses color. Maybe the red and black used on the tanks, etc
