Went for a ride the other day and rounded a curve and topped a rise in the curve and there it was --- a funeral procession comming out of the funeral home and had the road completely blocked. I must have got a little too much brake because all of a sudden my rear wheel was trying to pass me. I managed to stay upright and get it stopped. Believe me it had to be muscle memory and reflexes because I didn't have time to think.

Yes! I am a Redneck. Any Problems?

Every now and then you get a close one. A miss is as good as a mile.

Between the near miss and the funeral procession, that's really gotta remind you of your mortality...

Glad you're still upright

Just wish that cop had pulled up a little further so I could have seen him earlier. I really wish I could remember exactly how I managed to stay up.

Its called the pucker factor ...seems you suck the bike backwards due to fear. I also have carried out investigation into this strange and unusual occurrence.

I have been reliably informed that it is the same principal as putting a jet engine into reverse. I, like yourself, was unaware of this freakish behaviour. It is not uncommon for those who ride motorcycles to experience this at moments of extreme stress.

I would not advise any body to try this or to rehearse this feat. As sometimes the engine misinterprates the signal and extreme downward thrust can be caused ...the effects of this on undergarments can be and are dire as you can imagine. This is another feeling experinced by motorcyclists on odd occassions. I hope this helps to clear up the query.

I cannot decide whether to be a good example or a horrible warning ! Peace & respect http://www.tomcc.org/gg/ Eric

Last Sunday morning I was tail end of a group of 4 in our breakfast run. Flying along through a twisty part of Miccosukee Road, a large doe darted out just in front of me. Didn't affect me too bad, it was so quick. Guy in front of me saw it in his mirror, had to stop and pee.

It's called reflexes. The more ride time, the better they get! And I have always said that a couple of years on a dirt bike beats any kind of road training.

I agree with that. I rode in the dirt for years as a kid and gave the local law a good run on the dirt bike too. I grew up on a farm and it was a game, the local cop knew us and knew it was us.
