Need some help or feedback if this has happened to other speedmasters. I have an 03, freak kit, bubs, 160 main, 18 on the front, ran like a dream until i took it in for a service. Now when i ride it and park it for the day, and come back out to ride home, it wont start, well sometimes it does, sometimes it doesnt. Cranks over, but definately no spark, when there is a spark, starts first go and runs like no tomorrow. Has anyone hit this problem, CDI faulty etc? When i throw it on the trailer to the bike shop it seems the bumps fix it and fault clears. All of the signals work, battery replaced, but just wont start. Only two dealers down here do triumphs, and they cant find it after i left it there for 2 weeks. No one else wants to touch it because of warranty etc. My next option is to park it in front of the Triumph head office in OZ, and sell it back as spare parts, if not ill drive a truck over it! Frustrated

well if it never did it until the service then i say it is the shops fault. not sure about 03, but some earlier bikes had coil problems. i would check it out and see if you do get a spark when it cranks. then go for there

I know nadda about Triupmhs, but have had a several bikes. I have to agree with Frank. Intermittiant spark may be the fault of the coil. Temperature thing.

Is there any chance they removed the tank? It may be that the connector to the ignition module (rearmost of the 3 on the right side of the frame under the tank) was partly disconnected. Also, check the battery ground (earth) cable at both ends. If it is loose, it could vibrate around enough to break contact just long enough to reset the ignition module without noticably slowing the starter.

After spending 4 hours looking at the posts, ive decided this weekend i will pull it apart and go over every connection, then repack with some grease.
It has to be something that doesnt effect the bike when running; coil, ignition module? Ive tested it when cranking and there is no spark.
I left i at work for two days, hit the button this morning and it fired within 1 sec........
If all else fails ill have a cheap trumph for sale!

Update,

And no i didnt use Di-Electric grease, all i got after ringing up 20 electronics, motorbike and auto electrician shops was "what, what do you use that grease for" Oz is just not like the USA when it comes to obtaining the unusual or anything really!

Anyway, checked all connections and everyone was perfect, no corosion or any loose.

Battery is reading 12-13v, when i attempt to start it its pulling in the solenoid and giving me 10v on the sec side. Is that enough?

Could it be the throttle sensor?, but i have no trouble when it does start. Only other option is to test the coil, any other ideas??

Does anyone have an electrical schematic i can get my hands on?
