I put floorboards on my bike today, what a difference. I don't know why I waited so long. The only thing I don't like is the chrome job on the mounting hardware. They did a really crappy job.

They don't care about the quality of the chrome, they figure we are just too picky we rotten Yanks! I ran that one up to Corporate Triumph US and basically, sorry dude, but just the way it goes! That is the only bad thing I have found with Triumph, and haven't bought a Triumph part since if I can't lay eyes on it first.

Kills me that nobody makes boards to fit ours yet, like Kuryakyn with adaptors?!

I just bought a used set from a BA.com member. $200 shipped across country. Should arrive today or tomorrow. I'm guessing instructions weren't included, as I believe they were put on at his dealership.
How difficult were they to install?

Erwin,
Here was my buying decision process:
They look good on the bike and offer different feet position(s) when riding. Sounds good to me when in 5th on longer distance rides.
$355 new from Triumph is way too much, so I looked for a used set with low miles. First on Ebay (outbid), then found someone willing to sell on this site.
I understand folks with longer inseams may find them uncomfortable when shifting/braking. I'll let you know as I have a 34" inseam. Also, I wonder if the longer inseam folks adjusted the shiftlever-floorboard distance appropriately.
Ebay resale value is good if you don't like the fit/feel.
Regards,

I mounted boards on my BA a couple months ago. But I still haven't got the foot room to get my boots under the brake padal. Anyone know how to adjust for room?

I just installed these Kuryakyn Switchblade pegs as a great alternative to floorboards. - They're about $130, inclusing the Triumph adaptors - They heel rest can be closed when not needed or desired - The angle of the foot when on the heelrest can be set when the pegs are installed - In my opinion, the chrome is better than Triumph's. Also, I think the TBA is a little narrow-waisted to carry the look of full floorboards. This is my first attempt at posting a pic, so I hope it works:

Worked like a charm! Can I ask you to size it down? On my 21" monitor, I have to grow the window to almost full screen to see it. I can't even imagine the scrolling if I had a 17" or less monitor!! Your pic is 1498 X 1124. I believe something around 600 X 400 would work perfectly. btw, text follows a window so anyone's text would be off the screen and people would have to side scroll. I put in CRs on purpose so this could be seen....

I got my floorboards used but I think they're worth it. They put your feet more under you than out in front and take some load off your lower back. I am not that tall so I had no issue with the shifter. They took a bit of headscratching to install but so does everything else I do.

Come-on, this is not your first! But you are getting better at it! As in sizing them down to 650px by 450px size. Real tough to view those bigger ones you posted.
Edited: Me fingers are not quick enough as yous guys beat me to it already!
Keep the pics coming!

Tom,
They real easy to install. If you need the instructions I'll be glad to fax them to you, it's only a few pages. One problem with them is it's hard to get to the kick stand when you want to put it back up.

Rick, the brake pedal linkage, or the little threaded rod that actually pushes on the master cylinder, has two nuts on it, so it looks like there maybe be some small adjustments to the pedal for that purpose, play around with it and see if you can get it to your liking.

Dude how tall are your feet that you can't get them under the brake?!?!?! Shifter side usually is the issue and that can be adjusted easily and usually required.
They are right that they take the load off lower back and as mentioned (because it will only take once) THEY HIDE THE KICK STAND!
Other than that (and chrome not that it is flaking or anything just not shiny in all the places we would like) they are great. Try buying from Big4 a site sponsor here, he'll cut you a great deal and discount. Far less than $300+

Rick, I don't know that you would want your toe under the brake pedal... I scraped my right floorboard the other day going around a sharp bend with a real high berm. On the left side it might mean hitting the next gear up. On the right, that brake pedal ain't movin......
Just something to consider....

Ditto Croozer's comments.
Installed a used set last night and the WX broke long enough for an hour ride today. More comfortable than pegs. Got lucky with the shift-lever adjustment first time, fits my size 11.5 steel toes perfectly. Boot toe stays just to the right of the brake-lever. Chrome on mounts does indeed blow.
Happy camper for now.

Thanks Tom,
Im sure Im going to buy a set but youre rite about the price.A little steep. Hopefully I'll have some luck finding a used set as well. Did you replace the shifter to the Heel toe one or keep the original. How does it work in reference to clearance. Pleanty of room for your shifting foot?

Erwin,
I kept the original shift-lever. It didn't make sense to me buying the heel-toe shift-lever as it takes up real estate on the floorboard. It's important for me to move my feet around on the floorboard for comfort without being obstructed (heel-toe bar). Putting the balls of my feet at the very end of the boards feels like my old Meriden (can't reach the controls in this position of course, but it gives the old back and tail-bone a break once in a while).
Increasing the shift-lever clearance during the mounting bracket swap is an easy adjustment. When the original left mounting bracket is pulled off, only one bolt holds the shift-linkage to the spindle. The whole unit can be removed and rotated clockwise a spindle notch or two, increasing the distance of the shift-lever rubber to the floorboard.
I recommend the boards if you can find a used set.
Regards,
Tom

Interesting thread. I am looking at getting the Triumph floor boards but as usual they don't hold them in stock here so have to order them in. I have heard the quality is not too good but my main concern is the asthetics on the bike. I tried an after market set on temporarily and they looked way out of place when looking directly from behind/ in front of the bike. Been searching through the photo albums trying to find a good pic of these boards fitted looking from behind, anyone able to help???

Hey Erwin...
When I test rode my bike I loved it (or course) except for the very long reach to the footpegs. I'm 5'8 and found my legs aching after an hour or so on the bike. The boards made the sale for me, as it effectivley gives you about 3 different foot positions, all a few inches closer than the standard footpegs. Damm expensive, but recommended for the more vertically challenged.

I love my Kuryakyn switchblades. Especially in city driving. When on the open road and highway I open the heel rest and it's very close to having floorboards. I like the way they look better than the floorboards as well.

You can find the Kuryakyn switchblades on ebay for less than MSRP. Here's an auction for $74.95 from what looks like a reputable dealer. I got mine off of ebay 2 years ago for that price from a place in Houston, and paid $8 for the adapters from the same guy.

Cheers for that, now have definitely made my mind up to get a set. $420 aus but know it will be worth it for the comfort factor.

Floorboards are the only way to go Nico. They not only look right on the bike they add greatly to the comfort level. I won't have another bike without them.

Nico, before spending $400.+ see if you ride test ride one somehow. I'm 6'1" and I like the pegs better as I can ride with my heel below the peg. Many tall riders don't find them as great on this bike as riders under 6'. I plan to check into the switchblades as I don't have to give up anything to add something.

6'1' 225lbs 34' inseam here with no problem. Keep in mind I prefer the conventional foot position of the old Meriden's and Norton's, so the heel lower than toe is more of an inconvenience to me. Just my 2 centavos. I still say be patient and buy used. They do become available from time to time.

Tom
