Looking for ideas here fellow chromosekuals. Anyone find a nice looking chrome piece to cover the bland stock horn with?

I bought a chrome 5" retro looking horn at the recent VA Brit Bike rally, fabricated a mount for it, but it's barely audible. Switching back to the stock horn.

Don't know about the horn cover but the beer comment means only one beer an hour...I need two at least

i have this cover on my advanced auto freeway blaster, which i think is 130 dbls.

Bought the Hein Gericke ones (approx 125dB) which are shiny chrome (plastic?) but are standing up well to crap British roads.

I'd post a link but website under reconstruction for what seems like ages!!

Cost around £25 ($45) and need a small bracket making to get 'em level.

Horns are absolutly useless on a Motorcycle.Might as well pick one that looks good.Al

I completely disagree Al. You get one that's putting out 125-140db and even the little old blue hairs down here hear you!!!

Pick up a Harley horn off Ebay. Yea, I did say Harley, sorry! You can find some at good prices. I got a new one for $25. They have a chrome cover on them and you can actually hear it.

I've also been riding a long time (started in the dirt, late 60's) and only got onto the streets in the early 80's, but......

How the heck do you get someone's attention? Rev the motor? Kick their door? What about when that idiot you are riding next to decides to drift into your lane? Of course, I do evasive manuevers but I am also on that loud horn too.

What about the moron reading the paper at the light and you are behind them. Rev the motor?

I am not saying I use it all the time but when I need it, it's there and it's loud enough to get everyone's attention.

Hey guys - Anyone have a suggestion on which direction to mount the 139db Stebel horn Tom suggested. I have the 125db Stebel I bought from Brent, which is the same design, but the "conch shell" style design means you can mount it one of four ways - pointed down, left or right - or with an "L"-shaped bracket pointed straight ahead.

For easy, and to keep it low-profile, I just mounted it pointing to the side (left) using the flat bracket.

Now, I thought about mounting this straight ahead, which would seem to make the most sense but a) it's a pain to fabricate a bracket from the flat mounts, and b) I'm worried that bugs and water would just blow straight into the horn - like a big vaccum cleaner scoop. Also that the air rushing straight in at highway speeds would stop the horn from sounding.

Any help out there?

When I had one of those, I had it pointing down I think...
