As do most of us during the winter months I have began a series of endless change to my trusty 07 America for the 09 riding season. Last year brought Hard bags, shortened stems, a custom seat by Richs and a slew of other shiny tid bits. I thought I would ressurect the tank smoothing but its doesnt seem like the right thing to do right now. I decided to raise the back end when I got a smoking deal on some used 440s on eBay. No pics here. I do have plans to install the chrome shrouds I got but only after I get the upper and lower yokes chromed. This is going to happen soon. So for now....I thought Id do some work on my front/rear lights/turn signals and a lay down license plate. Heres what I started with:  and  The plate was almost a no go. That particlur unit is smaller than a standard US MC plate and I wasnt going to trim mine up. I did wind up modifying the mount in effect taking the curve out of it  Anyway....here are my results:

Is that pin striping on the hard bags painted or decal? Nice subtle touch!

Decals courtesy of Lowbrow Customs . One day Ill get it done by a pro but for now I like how that came out. I like subtle.

I have to pull it to add a couple washers so Ill snap a few more. Anything specific you want?
Id suggest going with the Kuryakyn if you want to do it. I just already had this one and didn’t want to pay to ship it back and then get hit with a restocking fee.
Here’s the one I used (its actually from Drag Specialties part # DS-720192). Large Radius Lic Frame
The 3 hole pattern on our bikes is different than others. I had to drill one hole but its easily covered up if I ever go back to OEM.

I got mine from Newspeedmaster.com. I got the bags painted black w/ no turn signals. You can order them painted to match but it gets pricey.

I dont remember...it was after Nelson but more than a few months ago.

I believe I noticed those at Baker City in august...very nice and impressive..I remember talking to you about them!!

Are your rear turn signals through the fender? I like the new plate mount. I've been contemplating doing something with the rear like that, maybe a different brake light too, just looking for some options and details.

I did you one better...rather than paying $30-90 for a kit Ill show you how to make one here for under $10. HOW TO

You do very nice work Mr. Z  , But I'm not certain you can win the "Best Of" award 2 years running, besides FJ gave me a $20 downpayment to vote for his as yet unveiled creation. Myself, I'll be parking by the Quike Mart dumpster around the corner. jh

I dont intend on getting it 2 years in a row...as a matter of fact I didnt expect it that first year.
If FJs bike turns out half as decent and I imagine it to I have a feeling hes got my vote too!
