Anyone have a link to engine numbers vs year models? After identifying if a late '04 bike is the 865cc motor.

Hey Nico I doubt if a late '04 motor will be 865cc - it might be if it was late '05. 865cc is an '06 motor. No doubt I'll be flogged, hung drawn and quartered if'n I'm wrong.

No Adey, the flogging would be too merciful. We'll try tarring and feathering instead! For the year 2005, Speedmasters came with the 865cc whereas up through '04, both America and Speedmaster were 790cc's. I just checked the Triumph website, and America is still listed as 790! Anyone got a spare chicken?

Just re-read the original post. He doesn't specify a bike does he? DOOOOHHHH!!! I was refereing to Speedys. (As I have an America, I know they don't do an 865cc lump)
Assumed Nico was too so, ner, ner
I guess they're waiting to put the 1500cc in the America so the Speedy will be the runt of the litter

That's ok, every man's gotta have a plan for when the Federales come knocking on his door. Of course, my plan makes a lot of noise, and yellow / black kind of stands out around here!

If the '05 S/M is any example, that one will probably only put out 40HP!

Yep 1500cc, seems like that's what the America needs to beat the 865cc Speedy, anything else is aaaaall theory.

Our Thunderbike pipes give you an extra 15+ hp on the 790 as opposed to only 4 hp on the 865 - (data source: Thunderbikes), but we aleady know that - so that's an unfair comparison.
""The 865 has a flatter torque curve than the 790 and this will show in a stronger "in gear roll on" response in the higher gears, whereas the 790 likes a downshift or 2 and some revs to really rock, the 865 will grunt"". (quote source: Graeme Lawson - Thunderbikes).
A downshift or 2 and some revs???
