This is so good...

I'm done with this car!
My car was idling like crap the other day so I figured since I just got it, it may have been awhile since anyone changed the oil out. I decided to go ahead and change the oil. I used Mobile 1 synthentic oil like I was reccomended on here. Anyways, I drain out the oil and noticed it was extremely dark and even after 10 minutes of draining, it was still coming out. I decided to go ahead and flush it to make sure all the bad stuff got out. I hooked up the hose, ran water through the engine, started it up and was waiting for the water to come out clean (The engine never went above idle so I was told this would be ok). Anyways, About 3 minutes into this, then engine starts shaking and shuts off. I figured it was all cleaned out so I plugged it up, added the oil and figured I was ready to go. WRONG! The car won't freaking start now. This car has been nothing but trouble for me, I think I am done with it.

I just don't understand, wouldn't the water keep it nice and cool? I can't imagine why it wouldn't start after the flush it should be nice and clean in there. I mean there would be no bad , dirty oil on those nice clean bearings now. I hate when that pesky oil gets on the bearings.

I don't sound anything like that. I'm much more reserved and polite.

What an idiot...

Everyone knows you are supposed to use distilled water when flushing the oil from an engine.

I was thinking that rubbing alcohol would work better. Deeper cleaning.

While he may be a troll, the story doesn't totally surprise me. I know for a fact those people are out there. 35 years in the heavy equipment service business and you see it all.

Oh, the stories I could tell...

There really are people that dumb. I got my '69 D100 for only $500 because the idiot who owned it decided to do the brakes himself. He lost 3 of the self adjuster cables and put it together without them. Only the left front brake staying in adjustment made stopping interesting. He cleaned all that icky stuff out of the front wheel bearings, then drove it and ignored all the funny noises from the frontend untill one of the bearings welded itself to the spindle and twisted it clear off.
He put it up for sale after ruining several sockets trying to drive the kingpin down out of the spindle. They are tapered so they have to be pressed out from the bottom.
Took me almost a whole day to pull out the front axle, get the pin pressed out, buy a set of brake adjuster bits and put it all back together.

They're out there , all right - I bought a 4-bolt Chevy small block from a kid "do it hisselfer" , tore it down and he had THREE different kinds of pistons , some were flats , hi-skirt , domed , whatever . How the thing ran I don't know . Different compression ratio for each cylinder , musta really shook !

I did a Shovel once that had a STD piston in the front cyl. and 80 over in the rear cyl. and it ran that way for years. Just imagine how far out of balance that engine must have been!

Funny you say that since the owner said he never noticed any difference.

You're right about that Deon, I ran into a guy once when he brought his truck in because the brakes quit working.
He bragged that he did all his own service but he couldn't understand why the brakes quit.
I knew what the problem was just listening to him blither on. He was convinced that the only fluid needed was ATF. He ran it in the trans of course, and the power steering, that was the spec back then. He also used it in the engine crankcase and, you guessed it, the brake reservoir.
