End of October I posted about being off work again... Tuesday, I had my first day back on the bike. Met a mate for a coffee and help her with a job application form, went to my dealer to ask how much a service would be (should have been done in November.... but they're gonna back date the book!!! ), hospital to book another physio appointment, and the long way home... not the longest way, but instead of a mile, around 5... in the traffic. It got some charge in the battery. For a first day... was ok. Did around 15 miles in total. Yesterday, was my medical at work. Had a gp appointment in the morning, followed by a trip to Birmingham to see the Occupational Health people's doc. GP was more than happy for me to go back to work. He'd been worried about my mental state and offered me anti-depressants. I didn't want them, so didn't get any. He was so pleasedI was happy, he said take it easy... I got my back support out of my bag and was happy with that. Off to Occ Health... and I go into work later today to discuss my return to work!!! I can't fault them really. They paid for some Facet Joint Injections... something that wasn't even offered at the hospital. TBH the hospital didn't really want to know...the injections were weird. but they've worked and to me that's what matters. I still get a small amount of pain... only when I stand still too long or lie down... getting to sleep has been a bit of a problem the last couple of days, but I've not taken any painkillers for the last couple of days either. do ya think it could be related??? (I can't work on the painkillers.... it's on a list of prescribed meds that are just a no-no. They do make me sleepy..... ). I wear my back support all the time on the bike now... before it was just a long distance thing. I'm gonna just have to accept it, just like putting the lid on every time. But I'm getting back to normal. Well as near as normal as I am....

Nice one, Gina. Sounds like you're on your way to recovery. Although you can't ride as the bike deserves (begs?) to be ridden, just take it easy and enjoy what you can. I'm still embarrassed that I have my chicken strips but what can ya do?! I went out on Tuesday for the first time in a few weeks. I was in pain but just needed to blow the cobwebs away. Went over the Cat and Fiddle. There was snow on the fields but the roads were OK; windy, wet and cold so I just took my time as I didn't know how much grip I had. It got a bit hairy in places but I survived it. I don't understand people who put their bikes away for winter; a ride is the perfect antidote for the winter blues!! Ride safe.

Ride safe.
I agree with that wholeheartedly! The exception would be those who are snowed in. Studded tires on a cruiser just wouldn't look right.

12 weeks of salt & sanding not to mention temps in the 20's (high temp) lately have kept me off the roads. Time to do bike mods.

It's suppose to be in the 60's today. Would be a great day to ride. However, my bike is in dire need of servicing and the parts that I'm painting aren't ready to be reinstalled.
Didn't buy into the hype, you can keep the change.

Finally, the planets and the stars and the weather lined up and I got out for my first ride in almost 2 months. Beeson Gap to the Little River Canyon Parkway and back down Colbrun Gap into the valley; lots of gravel in the roadbed from winter storms so I didn't do any skills testing. Man, do I feel better!

Was mid 60s here today. Got out for a short ride, it was great. Found a nice curvy hilly highway and took off.... work keeps interfering with what I want to do. Was going to wait til spring to cut back but am going to 3 day work week starting now!

Man I rolled the bike around the garage today & that gave me a woodie. I couldn't imagine a 365 riding season I'd never get any mods done, tore it all apart for the 904 upgrade.

Good to hear you're back in the saddle Gina. Ask your docs about a TENS unit. It uses electricity to kind of interrupt the pain messages. But since it's not drugs, you don't get all loopy. http://www.tensunits.com/

I've got a TENS unit. A fabulous piece of kit. Now I'm back at work too, I'll use it if get any twinges, rather than reaching for the meds.
Some would say it's too cold here for riding... the weather man has just mentioned snow, but I've missed the freedom. That, and with 3 lsyers on you can't feel anything - especially the cold!!!

It's really sunny outside..... might go and put the thermals on and go for a ride.
OR
I could polish the rust off, and wait for the rain to return tomorrow.
Tough one....

I've been out and about on the daytona rather than the speedy over this winter mainly for work.
A couple of days have been a bit hairy with my visor freezing over and reducing the visibility and black ice but I still prefer that and going easy to using the car.
It's just the dumb questions like "is it cold out there?" when I get into work that make me puzzled as I roll in with a jacket and visor frozen over.
Before the war on terror, if I saw an unattended package I used to think "I'll be having that!"

My Speedie is used neally every day to get to and from work. There has been only one day this winter so far that I would not use my bike. Cleaning is a pain but if I could not ride I would just be like all the rest and be brain dead... Keep the bike on the road and the salt off your bike ! p.s. good to hear your up to riding your bike Gina

Gret pic of the Little River sign and bike. I dig those leathers. Tan is beautiful. I lived in Alabama 30 years before these last 5 here in Georgia. Alabama is beautiful and has a low population density. Always a good thing. I am still trying to connect my motorcycle with an erection.( see the woodie comment above) I don't get it yet; but maybe it will happen. My bike is always available.
2008 BA, Ageon Blue, roadster shield, light bar. tach, big bags, square engine guard, short sissy with rack. All Triumph parts. No mods.
