Has anyone put a center stand on their bike? I have one on the beemer, and I like being able to stand the thing up straight. Makes things like oil changes easier.
I've seen that there's one available. I'm curious if anyone's put one on, and what their experience has been. Is it pretty easy to get the bike up on it?

Grzegorz, Try rolling the rear of the bike up on a piece of scrap wood like a 2x4 and it should come up easier. Works for mine and I have lower shocks.

I bought one from Fast Eddy last April and have loved it ever since. Makes cleaning the wheel a breeze and airing up/Chain service too. Also good for when your doing almost anything else to the bike and want it nice and stable and not leaning to one side. Today I hooked up the rest of the wires for a Kisan Signal minder and it went real easy taking the tank off and swiveling the bars back and forth as I threaded the wires and got things all set the way I wanted them on both sides of the frame etc. It does scrape when taking a hard left turn but so does the stock exhaust and peg...scares the h e double hockey sticks outta people that are nearby when it happens - SCCCCCRRRRAAAAAPPPE

Why did you have to swivel your bars for the signal minder?

to keep from whacking my head on the grip/lever when I leaned in to run the wires and to make sure I had enough slack for how I did it.
turn the bars one way while on one side and the other way when on the other side.

I have one from the 1st batch. I need a 1" slat of wood under the back tire to use the stand without hernia-inducing effort. All things considered I like the stand & would do it again.

Has anyone put a grab handle on the side like the old bikes had to put it up on the stand?

It comes with a short strap that wraps around a section of frame and I just hook on the rear foot peg on trips.

Hi Joe
I put one on months ago, works well and I'm no condom full of wallnuts and don't have any difficulty using it. I still run stock tyres and suspension.

Just guessing here, but I would assume that "Condom full of walnuts" is a descriptive expression for a muscle-y type person. (i.e., the skin being the condom, and the muscles being the walnuts.) If I'm wrong, please correct.

Hey Ray I got it from Brent at www.newspeedmaster.com. Along with heaps of other trinkets over the last 18 months. They're good!! Quality products, spot on service. Order on thursday or friday and it will arrive the next week. May be a little longer in the outback. It cost under $300, but that was when the Aussie $ was around 95c, Probably gunna cost around $450 now. I prefer to leave the bike vertical when in the garage. Still rekon tyres can get flat spots when left for too long in one spot. And it comes in handy for maintainence times. The tag goes way back, when I had a few. $$$ that is. Raised 3 boys and they bought me a Trump!!! for fathers day, but the funds came out of their inheritence.

Hey Dog
"The Gong" - Wollongong on the eastern seaboard. Just south of Sydney.
"The Alice" - Alice Springs, fair in the the guts of Aus.
"Much of a muchness" - about the same.

Just a minor rant here, but why do these bikes not come with a stock center stand? Both of my previous bikes had them, and they're one of the most useful pieces of equipment any bike can have. I don't think it would hurt sales to much to bump the price up a few bucks to make centerstands standard equipment.

According to Triumph they were going to have them but they pulled them because they were too low, and they were worried about throwing the bike over. Aparently in the early days a test rider was high sided from grounding a footpeg.
I have scraped mine, makes a horrible sound - frightened the tihs outa me the first time, but now I know whereit is

Interesting. Well, I received my Rivco stand today, and I have to say I'm impressed with it. It's very heavy-duty.

Bit of a problem: The centerstand doesn't seem to want to fit inside the frame. It's just a teeny bit too wide. Anybody else encounter this problem? Any tips?

If you only want to use the $300 or so stand to do a little work on the bike you could save some $$$ and get a bit of wood 8" x 2" drill a hole in it and use a bit of pipe inserted through the hole to raise and lower the bike. Works a treat and costs next to nothing.

Agree wholeheartedly. Don't have the centerstand, but it would make a fine farkle when trekking if only for lubing the chain. Can't see much need for it otherwise. But being as it cost as much as a set of tires and tubes, or two thirds the price of a chain kit, well, I'm waiting for the, "here Moe, give me a hundred bucks and it is yours"...
