I'm almost finished with the install, and wanted to verify something. Where does the gas tank vent hose go? Does it just hang around open? What the ******?

do you mean the crank vent? or does the tank vent go to the air box on later model bikes? If it is the latter just route it down where the other vent hoses dangle. That would be stock placement on an 04. If it is the crank breather there should be a filter to go on it and you can mount that anywhere you want.

Should be clipped to the frame there where the tip over valve is.

OK, I've dug a little deeper into it. The hose I'm talking about isn't the gas tank vent. Its a 5/8" hose that comes out of the igniter coil? What is that and what should I do with it? Its pictured below just sitting above the left carb filter.

That comes from the Air Injection. You should get an AI removal kit but for now you can just pull the hose off the other end. This might help....the hose end you see is #11

Its from air injection system ..Have u still got it? as I can see yes coz can see tube coming off the inlet manifold ...u should buy and install AI removal kit

He still has it , if you look the vacuum line is still attached to the intake too.

1st time's a learning experience, 2nd time's a mistake  amd anyway, poor old Ian (dog) wouldn't know what to do with himself without us "L" platers
